Kelly's POV~

I hung up and went to answer my door. "Who ya talkin' to?" My mom asked in a fake, girly voice. "A friend." i said quickly. "Mhmmmm..." She laughed. "hey, I need your help with something." She added. I sighed, trying to resist the temptation to roll my eyes at her. "What?" I asked and folded my arms. "Can you go out to the garden and fill one of the baskets from the counter with tomatoes?" She asked. I nodded slowly. "Yeah, sure." I said with a shrug and stepped out my door past her after grabbing my ipod off my bed. "Is Ron doing anything to help you?" I muttered just quiet enough that my mom could not hear me upon seeing my brother playing video games on the couch when i went for the basket. It occurred to me that this was probably her way of getting me out of my room. I walked out into the blazing heat of a late summer day and opened the short gate to the garden. It took me about fifteen minutes to fill the whole basket with tomatoes. As i was heading through the backdoor i saw my dad pull in the driveway. I managed to get the basket to the counter and run back into my room before he came inside so i would not have to talk to him. I didn't enjoy talking to people most of the time. I checked the clock on my wall. 5:45ish. Hopefully i wouldn't be bothering Aden too much if i messaged him again. "Hey, I'm back." I sent a quick text then shut my ipod into sleep mode. Several minutes passed and he did not reply. I could only assume he was busy. Which was fine. But i did find myself getting a little impatient waiting for him to say something back. Oh the struggle of having a crush on someone whom you can only talk to via social media. Several minutes more passed and still nothing. My family would want me out for dinner soon so i slipped my ipod into my pocket and went out to sit on the couch and wait. Bad idea. "Hey, K!" my mom giggled from the kitchen. "Were you on the phone with 'your friend' again?" She asked, loud enough for my dad and brother to hear. "K doesn't have a phone!" My brother laughed quietly from behind the screen of his video game. "What?" my dad muttered and looked up from his magazine with a stupid look on his face. "Nothing, dad." I rolled my eyes and heaved a sigh of frustration. "Mom!" I yelled, hoping to change the subject. "When is dinner!?" I asked. "Now!" She replied. I jumped up from the couch and went to the table. She set homemade pizza with fresh tomatoes down on the table as the rest of my family came to join us. "Thank you." i said and flashed the sweetest fake smile i could as she handed me my food. We started eating. No conversation made itself. Unfortunately, right as it got awkwardly quiet i got a text back from Aden and my iPod went off, breaking the silence. My dad gave me a questioning look but said nothing. "What?" I asked after swallowing my bite of pizza. He laughed a little and shook his head. "you chimed." He pointed out. "i know." I said quickly and shrugged. "You gonna answer it?" He asked and raised one eyebrow. "Normally you yell at me for being on my iPod at the table." I countered. My dad just shrugged. I took this opportunity to whip my iPod out and reply to Aden. "Hi again :) sorry for not replying right away. i was having dinner." He'd said. I found myself smiling a little. "It's okay ^~^" I replied and clicked my iPod off, setting it on the table next to me. "Who's making you smile like that?" My mom giggled and gave me a weird look. Its hard to describe it. All moms do it. "Pardon?" I said and dropped back to having less facial expression than a brick. It was difficult not to laugh for some reason. "Are you talking to a boy?" She asked. Hopefully i was not blushing. "Um..." I didn't seem to know how to finish a sentence. "She is!" My mom smirked and looked over at my dad for a moment. "Is he your boyfriend?" My dad asked. I took advantage of having my last bite of pizza in my mouth and didn't say anything. Just shook my head 'No.' "He's just a boy. Who happens to be my friend. There's nothing more between us. Just. friends. Besides, i only met him on instagram two days ago." I said slowly before getting up from the table, so they would hopefully understand. "Suuuure...." My brother drawled. "Shut up, Ron." I muttered and went back into my room. Aden had texted me again but i must not have heard it go off due to the fact that my parents had been talking to me. "Okay. Oh, btw... I checked with my dad to see if i'll have a free moment to see you at the fair tomorrow and he said thats fine. It probably won't be till about noon though. Do you have any idea when you'll be there?" He'd said. I took just a little longer to change into my pajamas since i had nothing else to do with the rest of the night. "We'll probably be there right about noon so i'll head to the fries stand as fast as i can." I replied. Smiling a bit to myself, i hoped he'd not have a negative answer to give me in regards to our earlier conversation on FaceTime.
