Aden's POV~

I woke up as soon as my alarm went off at 7am. Stumbling around in my dark room, i hit the wall switch to turn my lamp on so i could see. Maybe that wasn't such a good idea. I still stumbled as i was changing into my cargo shorts and a plain blue t-shirt, due to the fact that the light hurt my eyes. When i went to click my phone on i realized that it had not been charging over night and was now at 3% battery. There's not a lot of things that give one a more disappointed feeling than when they find their phone didn't charge overnight. I plugged it in then went out of my room and downstairs for breakfast. My dad was on the couch watching tv and my mom was washing dishes. "Morning!" My mom smiled and gave me an awkward sideways hug, trying not to get soapy water on me. "Hi." i said bluntly and sat down on a stool near the counter. "Anything i could help you with?" I asked her. But it was my dad who answered. "Yeah, after you eat i need you to come help me move some stuff from the garage to the trailer." He told me. 'Great.' i thought. 'That sounds like so much fun.' i nodded quickly. "Sure thing. what stuff?" I asked him. "Some tools and boxes they'll need up at the festival for break down tomorrow." He said after a moment of silence. i nodded again. "alright. are you going to need help unloading it at the festival or just getting it in the car?" I asked. "I'll be fine today. there'll be somebody at the festival to help unload but you'll need to come with me tomorrow to help bring it back." My dad said. "Okay. Well, i'm not really all that hungry so i might as well help you now." i said to him and stood up from the stool. "Slow down, bud. your father still needs to eat. and so do you whether you're hungry or not." My mom scolded gently as she turned around to join the conversation when she had finished washing the dishes. "Fine." i sighed, pretending to be very annoyed. "Pancakes good with you guys?" she asked, drying her hands on a towel. "Sounds wonderful." my dad chuckled. i just nodded quickly. "Coming right up." my mom smiled and got to work cooking.
When we had finished breakfast i went upstairs to grab my sneakers then came back down and went out the back door into the garage to help my dad in the garage. "okay, what am i helping with?" i called as i came through the garage door. "What?" my dad shouted and stood up from where he'd been crouching behind a pile of boxes. "um, here..." he grabbed a box piled high with tools and handed it to me. "Dad..." i groaned, trying not to drop it. "Too heavy?" he asked. i nodded and gritted my teeth. "So put it down and take the tools in two loads. the car is in the driveway with the trunk open." he said then turned and went behind some boxes. I assume to grab something else. I piled as many of the tools as i could carry safely into my arms then pushed my way out the door and placed the tools in the trunk of the car. Once i had finished that box full i stood waiting for my dad to walk back in and tell me what to do next. "Wind that up," he pointed to a cord laying on the floor. "Then take it into the front seat." He finished before grabbing one last box. I wound the fat, orange extension cord up as fast as i could and ran to the car holding it. "Thats it. Thanks, Aden." My dad huffed and slammed all the car doors shut. "No problem." I nodded curtly and went back into the house. "That took long enough." i heard my mom call from where she stood in the living room, folding laundry. I looked at my watch. Ten fifty? i got up at seven and breakfast hadn't really taken that long. "Yeah i guess." I sighed and wiped the sweat i felt beading up on my forehead. "Get a glass of water." She told me. I did. I finished it quickly too. "you talked to Kelly yet today?" She asked in that tone that mothers do that shows their teasing but also being serious. "No. my phone was almost dead when i got up." i told her. "You didn't charge it overnight?" She asked with a hint of laughter. "You know what," i laughed. "I didn't do anything." my mom chuckled. "yeah, yeah. whatever." i called over my shoulder and headed back upstairs to my room. My phone had fully charged when i checked it so i unplugged it and stuck it in the pocket of my shorts. I looked around my room, there wasn't much to do. I stuck my head out the door. "Hey mom!" I yelled down the stairs, "What!?" she yelled back and came to the bottom of them. "do you have off today?" i called. "no! Just different hours. i'm leaving soon!" she called in return. "okay." i said and shut my door. I'd be alone all day. Fun. Nobody to see me get awkward when i talked to Kelly. or frustrated with myself when i still got no closer to granting her wish. I pulled my phone out of my pocket and sat on my bed against the wall. The clock on it read eleven fifteen. Kelly would be up and not busy by now, right? "Hi! Whats up? (sorry if i'm bothering you 😁 )" i sent her a quick message on the instagram direct message chat we'd been using. It occurred to me that it would probably be easier for me to get her number instead of always using instagram. oh well, yet another task i had to finish.
