Aden's POV~
"That'll be Ron, co-captain buzzkill."
Kelly sighed and stood up. I followed her back around the fries stand to where her parents and my father were talking. Good, they didn't seem to be frustrated or unfriendly. in fact they were standing close and laughing. "Time to go, K." Her mother laughed and put a hand on her shoulder. Kelly looked very disappointed for a fleeting second but managed to hide it. "Okay." she sighed. "Say goodbye love-birds." My dad chuckled, patting me a little too hard on the back. Kelly turned away from her mother to face me. I wanted to hug her tight and passionately kiss her goodbye but i couldn't do that. not with everyone watching. I was too nervous i would do something awkward. "Um... bye." Kelly mumbled. was it just me or did she seem to be about to cry? "Bye." I said quickly and gave her and awkward side hug. "I'll uh, i'll text you when i get home." I said and gave her an awkward smile. Slowly realizing that i too, was about to cry. "Okay." Kelly nodded quickly and turned away, following her family to their red mini-van. Watching her leave hurt. Tearing my eyes away because watching someone till they were out of your sight was bad luck, hurt even more. "Ready to go, Son?" My dad asked and fished around his pockets for some keys. "Yeah." i sighed and flipped my fringe up out of my face. "Headquarters will be pleased to know you finished your first assignment so quickly." He said, awkwardly breaking the silence as we walked back to where he'd parked the car. "Are you already done breakdown?" I asked in a slightly surprised tone as i opened the passenger door. "Just because you snuck off for a secret rendezvous with Kelly for an hour doesn't mean we stopped working." He chuckled as he started the engine. "True." I shrugged. finding myself grinning like an idiot when i thought of those moments with my girlfriend. The rest of the ride home was very awkward. My dad asked a lot of questions. You know, generic, "parent questions." anyone who is new to serious relationships and has parents knows what i mean. When i got home i went straight up to the secret room without saying anything to either of my parents. There would be plenty of time for them asking prying questions at dinner. I plopped down in the desk chair and hit a button on the tiny, complicated keyboard to call headquarters. There was a quiet ringing sound and then a click. "Hello Aden." A very prim looking woman greeted me. "Evening." I said and nodded curtly. "What do you want?" She asked. "I would like to inform headquarters that i have granted the wish of my client." she was silent for a minute or two an looked to be typing at something off screen. "And who, is The young Donnings girl in a relationship with?" She asked. "M- me." i stuttered. "And as of when did this situation occur?" She asked without looking up from her typing. "around noon ma'am." I replied. i heard a click and she looked up. "Congratulations on a job well done, young man." She smiled at me. "Thank you ma'am. i'll let you know if another wish comes through that i am in a position to take." I said. "Thank you. Good-day." As she finished speaking the call ended and the giant screen shut off. Just like that. i had done it. I had granted Kelly's wish in the best way possible. Kelly! i had forgotten to text her when i got back. I quickly pulled my phone out and texted her, 'hey sorry i took so long. the drive is usually two hours but we hit traffic.' A little white lie would not hurt anyone. She replied right away. 'It's okay. welcome back :)' I smiled a little and left the secret room to go downstairs. My mom didn't even need to call me down. i could smell dinner. 'Haha thanks. so whats up?' I texted Kelly then slipped my phone in my pocket again as i joined my parents at the table. "So how was your day?" My mother asked. I choked down my bite of food. "It was good." i said. "What did you do?" My dad asked. the tone in his voice indicated he wanted me to tell her about meeting up with Kelly. "I saw Kelly." I said then flashed my father a quizzical glance. "Oh?" My mom raised one eyebrow at me. "How did that go?" She asked. i took advantage of eating to delay saying anything. "It was great. i uh..." She interrupted me by laughing. "Don't strain yourself. Your father told me everything." She chuckled. "Have you two worked out friday yet?" She asked. I swallowed another bite of my meal. "excuse me?" I said with an air of confusion. "Your father didn't tell you?! He scheduled with Kelly's family, they're driving over here for the day on friday." She told me. My aw dropped. "Gee thanks for the critical information about my girlfriend!" i laughed and turned to my father. "Well, now you know." he shrugged. "may i be excused?" i asked and rose from my chair without waiting for a response. I dashed back up to my room and lay on my bed with my earbuds on. Kelly had texted me whilst i was having dinner. 'Nothing much, how about you?' instead of texting her back i called her on FaceTime. As it sat there ringing i silently hoped i wasn't calling at a bad time. "Hey..." Kelly's voice came through and then the screen changed. I saw her laying down on her bed, same as usual. "I'm not calling at a bad time am i?" I asked. "Nope. you're good." Kelly said and smiled. "Yay." i found myself giggling. "So did you hear?" I asked. "hear what?" Kelly replied. "we're meeting up friday! Your family apparently arranged things with my father and they're driving you to my place!"
