Kelly's POV~
My ipod went off again and i reached for the back pocket of my jeans so i could answer the message which was most likely from Aden. "don't worry about it. you're not a downer and that wasn't creepy. as for what i'm up to, nothing really. my dad just left to work a festival in DE so i'm currently alone. What about you?" I was right, it was him. I wasn't really doing anything worth talking about so it took me a while to reply. "Cool. I think i know the festival you're talking about. i was there yesterday. and I'm not really doing anything other than talking to you." I finally managed to string together some words and sent a reply. Before i could read what Aden said when my ipod went off again there was a knock at my bedroom door. "Who is it?" i yelled and slipped my ipod out of sight so nobody would ask what i was doing. Not that i had anything to hide, but my family usually jumped to the conclusion that i had a boyfriend if i was talking to a boy for even five minutes. "Your mother." came an annoyed voice from the other side of the door. "it's lunch time." Already? i glanced at my ipod's clock. wow. i guess i hadn't been paying attention to the time. "okay. i'm coming, just a minute." i yelled. "make it quick." My mother snapped and i could hear her shuffling away from my door. Once she was gone i unlocked my ipod and checked to see what Aden had said. "Really? is it fun? i've never been. my dad said maybe he would take me to help break things down or on one of the last days but i don't know if i should go or not..." I couldn't help smiling a little when i read his message. don't ask me why because i couldn't tell you. I never ever smiled. "yeah, there are rides and food stands, sometimes concerts and a shit load of people selling things. it's great if you like that sort of thing. I've been going pretty much my whole life so it's become kind of a monotone for me." I sent my reply then slipped my ipod in my pocket and went out into the living room to join my family for lunch. we hardly ever had lunch all together so when we got the chance my mom made a huge fuss about it and insisted everyone be present. I was a little hungry but i didn't plan on doing anything today that would require energy. So i didn't need to eat, right? Maybe. I would eat at least a little to keep my family out of my hair. "Finally." my mom muttered when i sat at my spot at the table. 'Yes because making me feel bad about taking my time to get out here will really make me want to spend time with you.' i thought and gave her the nicest fake smile i could as she handed me a plate then passed around a big bowl full of vegetable salad. " Are these from your garden, dear?" my father asked in between huge mouthfuls. My mom grinned, obviously very proud of herself. "yes they are. do you all like them?" she asked. "yes." i said and nodded, again giving her as nice a smile as i could muster. "they're delicious." my brother mumbled over his bite. He had an extremely bad habit of talking with his mouth full. Before anyone attempted starting a new conversation, my ipod went off in my pocket. Breaking the awkward silence. "What was that?" my mom asked and looked at me, raising an eyebrow in mock suspicion. "Just an internet friend finally messaging me back." i shrugged and pretended not to care. "what's her name?" my dad asked. he really seemed to enjoy pretending he knew my foreign friends as well as i did. "His name is Aden." i said. putting an emphasis on the word 'his'. Which, now that i think about it, may not have been a good choice. all of my other friends were girls so my parents never teased me about liking them. "Kelly has a boyfriend! Kelly has a boyfriend!" my brother chanted and smacked the table a few times. "no i don't! i've only known this kid for a few hours! i don't have a boyfriend." i snapped and glared daggers and Ron. "Chill, he was just joking. besides, you'd tell us if you had a boyfriend right?" my mother soothed. the temptation to roll my eyes at her was hard to resist. "yeah." i lied and took another bite of my lunch. My family didn't act interested in my life yet they expected me to tell them everything that ever happened. "Good." my mom nodded. The rest of my time spent at the table with them was silent. Weird, i know. but i accepted it and quietly got up, putting my plate in the sink on my way back to my bedroom. "Leaving so soon?" my father called after me. I didn't reply. just kept going and clicked my door shut behind me. After getting comfortable on my bed i turned my ipod on and finally read Aden's message. hopefully he hadn't gotten i anxious waiting for a reply. "It sounds great, I think i would enjoy it. hopefully my dad will still want to take me. Do you plan on going again before it's over?" I read his message and thought for a moment. my parents hadn't said anything so far about going back. "Yeah, i think you would. and no, i dont plan on going back except for when the festival is being broken down and we need to pick up contest entries." I replied to him. Why did he want to know whether i planned on going again?
