"I think that was a good proof to let you know the boy is still alive" Neal said from the other side of the phone as Emma felt rage inside her "Now, listen carefully to what I'm going to say"
Emma gazed at David and Killian, who were arms crossed staring at her, before putting her phone in loudspeaker so they could listen too.
"Just spit it out, idiot" she snapped.
"Whoa, easy baby. Why are you being so rude?"
"Stop playing games and tell me where my son is!"
"Emma... Chill. I just want us to talk... As a family"
"Family?! Henry and I are not your family!"
"Henry has my blood. That gives me right over him"
"What the hell do you want?" Emma asked trying avoid the fact that Neal was right. Only about the blood thing of course "He has nothing to do with what happened in the past. This is about you and me"
"I'm glad you mentioned it because that was exactly what I was going to explain. If you want to see Henry again you have to play my game, play under my rules. Are you willing to do it?"
"Of course I am" she replied without a single hint of hesitation. Killian exchanged looks with David. They knew they weren't going to like what was happening next.
"Perfect" Neal continued "Now... You're gonna receive a message in some minutes with the exact place where we're gonna meet. You will have exactly ten minutes to get there and then you'll receive more instructions in your phone. Deal?"
"Deal. But you better not touch Henry because if you do I swear you'll regret seeing me again"
"We'll see about that" he replied, not feeling scared about her threat "Oh, and one more thing" Neal said before Emma could hang up the phone "you must come alone. I shall see no one more but yourself, do you understand? If I realize that you brought company I'm gonna order my men to shoot. You don't want to see your dear daddy with a bullet in his head, do you?"
Emma looked at David. The simple thought of her father being hurt... Or worse, was terrible. No. That's not happening. I'm not letting anyone get hurt. Anyone. "I'll go alone"
"That's what I thought. You've been warned. I won't hesitate, you understand? This also applies to your lover boy, so tell him that he better stay away from us. See you, baby"
Neal hanged up the phone as Emma dropped herself down in the couch. He knows about Killian and I... How?! He must've spied on us recently...
"We have to create a plan before Neal sends the message" David began.
"We need no plan" Emma said standing up "I'll just wait for the message to arrive and do as he says"
"Hold on," Killian continued "You're not thinking about going, are you?"
"Of course I'm going. My son is being held by a complete psychopath in God knows where! I'm Henry's only chance"
"No, you're not. Emma, we can call the police, ask for external help"
"You don't understand. If I don't go Neal will hurt him. Police can't help. I can try to change his mind and-"
"Change his mind? Swan, you've just said it, he's a psychopath! You really think he's gonna spare your lives?"
"We have more chances if I go"
"And risk yourself?"
Emma made a pause, frowning "You sound as if you wouldn't want me to save Henry"
"Why would you say that?" Killian asked, upset that she thought and said that to him "Don't you think I'm furious with Neal too? That I want to kill that guy for taking Henry away from us? I want to save the lad. I'm gonna do whatever it takes but not by exposing you!"
"That's the price, Killian. The price of being a mother. But trust me, I'm willing to pay it at all costs because I'm not leaving Henry there! If I die then so be it as long as I save my kid"
"I understand, Emma. Giving your life for your son because you're his mother. But what happens if you don't make it back? What about the baby?"
Emma placed her hand on her belly, feeling stupid because since Henry's kidnapping she had forgotten about the baby, her and Killian's baby. Her hand began to caress her belly in circles as she realized that risking her life meant risking the baby's as well. Emma Swan had been put in a very difficult situation and she was well aware of it. She wished so badly that everything was a nightmare...
But it wasn't. It was damn real.
"I can't lose you, Emma" Killian went on in a calmed voice "We can find another way"
She took his hands and gave him a sad smile "There's no other way. Neal is clever, it's hard to trick him. But you need to have faith that I'm coming back. That we're all coming back" she said referring to her, the baby and Henry.
Killian sighed. It all felt so wrong. He knew it wasn't going to be that easy. He was scared. Scared of the whole situation.
He nodded before Emma embraced him tightly.
Suddenly, a phone ranged. It was an incoming message. Emma looked at her phone.
"Storybrooke Cannery. Ten minutes" she read out loud.
"Okay..."
She put on her coat before exchanging some quick words with her father and Killian. The three of them then walked to the Sheriff Station's exit.
Emma turned to them. "This isn't a goodbye" she said with a smile, although she was feeling fear inside her. She hugged David and then Killian before making her way out. She gazed at her clock. Five minutes left.
"Swan, wait!" Killian exclaimed joining her side.
"What is it?"
He leaned forward, placing his lips on hers. The kiss was short, however, it was what Emma needed to feel more confident.
"I love you" he said after breaking apart.
"I love you too" she caressed tenderly his cheek before turning and walking away, tasting Killian's kiss.
She arrived to the cannery just in time. She went inside and saw it completely empty. No one was there... Only a lot of silence. That kinda creeped her out.
Her phone ranged again. She startled at the sound before looking at it. Another message from Neal had just arrived.
"Go to the south side of the cannery and wait"
She obeyed and waited on the other side of the big old building for around two minutes before hearing something.
It was a car engine. To be more precise, a black van's engine, the same she saw when Neal disappeared with Henry. The van was stopped right in front of her. A pair of tall men hopped down it and looked at Emma.
"We'll take you to him" one of them said sliding the van's door.
Emma didn't answer. She just hopped in. Before closing the door, the men tied her hands and covered her eyes.
They made their way to Neal's hiding place. They arrived quickly, which made Emma thought that the place wasn't that far. The men uncovered Emma's eyes, allowing her to see where she was.
The forest.
