Note: this is the Beatle universe but the timeline has been altered to fit the story. Sorry for any confusion. :)
George and the lads had been gone for four months. The time though short, seemed to go on endlessly to the point that she was beginning to wonder if she could even remember what their voices sounded like anymore.
Her mother hardly talked to her anymore and she had found motherly comfort ironically in the form of George's mother. At first, they had been considerably upset when they learned the news, but later admitted they really liked Maggie and knew she'd be good for George.
She still had Mimi at least. Soon after her end of employment/punishment, the older woman requested the girl visit from time to time for company and to hear about how the precious life growing inside of her was doing.
The baby.
Her once flat stomach now had a little bulge. Enough for Maggie to still wear her clothes comfortably and discreetly (to her mother's quite verbal relief) but big enough to for Maggie to cup her hands around to truly acknowledge that there indeed was her and George's baby growing inside of her body. She grew to love her child, despite having not met him/her yet, but her instincts urged her to protect and love. George had been supportive like Maggie knew he would up to the point that he was extremely ecstatic. Every time they talked over the phone or wrote letters, he'd ask if her stomach was showing, or if the baby was kicking yet. It was sweet how excited he was to return home.
And than there was John.
She didn't ask George if he had told him. He probably did, God knows George would be proud to tell the lads she was expecting their child. What would John think? There's been a time when Maggie thought she'd be carrying John's child if she ever got pregnant. But that was the past now.
He'd made his choice and so had she.
Laying across her living room couch, Maggie absentmindedly stroked her stomach, content with her thoughts only to have them violently cut off by the sound of the doorbell. The family butler Herms was grocery shopping, leaving answering the door to her.
Huffing and scowling at the struggle to get to her swollen feet, she made her way to the front door and opened it to a sight that made her stomach flip.
''George!" She squealed and hugged her boyfriend with all her might, peppering kisses all over his face happily.
George chuckled and hugged her back before kissing her sweetly on the lips. As they pulled apart his eyes traveled down to her stomach where he glanced at her for permission before placing his hands on her stomach.
''Wow,'' He suddenly crouched down and kissed her stomach, ''Hello, baby. I haven't met you yet but I just want you to know that I already love you so so much. And you have the best mummy in the entire world and we can't wait to meet you." George spoke to her stomach before before kissing it gently.
Maggie wiped her tears and embraced George again, regretfully letting him go after a moment.
"What're you doing home so early? I thought you still had a few weeks?'' She ushered George inside, leading him past the couch she had previously been occupying and into the kitchen.
"I got deported because they found out I'm underage." George pouted as he followed Maggie to the dinning room.
"Oh George," She laughed asking one of the maids to put the kettle on as they sat down, ''So......Did you tell the lads about the pregnancy?" She asked as the same maid brought George a sandwich.
"Yeah. They congratulated me and stuff. Paul's so excited to be an uncle now, said he's going to spoil the baby rotten, he rolled his eyes and Maggie smiled "That's nice.''
No mention of John. She could only hope they could continue normally once he too returned.
Paul and Pete were the next to return home but Maggie was still too nervous to see John, something she voiced to Paul who now served as her confident.
"Don't worry love." Paul soothed her as she buried her face in her hands. Now with his new position in their friendship, he often came by, "to keep her company" since she didn't see many people anymore. Personally, Maggie thought Paul just liked to fuss over her.
"I can't help it." John had been home for two days and Maggie avoided him as long as possible.
That didn't last long, as it was only a matter of days before Mimi was calling on her. The older woman was going to have her lady friends over and asked Maggie if she didn't mind helping her ready the house. She didn't trust John to help and would rather not have any strangers in her home, especially with the boys becoming so popular with the girls.
Planning ahead, Maggie had worked as fast as possible and froze while dusting when she heard the front door open and familiar feet walk into the house."Maggie?" She closed her eyes before turning to face John, face void of emotion. He stared at her with an unreadable expression before his eyes fell to her stomach and he zeroed in on the bulge before suddenly looking away like he'd been wounded by the sight.
"I should have never left you." He frowned and his almond eyes looked sadly down at her and she scoffed.
"Well, you made your choices John, and they have consequences. That's life." Maggie shrugged, moving past him.
"Do you love him?" She froze, turning back around to glare coldly at him.
"How dare you ask me that. Of course, I love George and I'm happy to be carrying his baby!" Maggie hissed, becoming somewhat alarmed as John walked towards her and pinned her to the wall.
"Really?" His eyes looked hungrily at her and she felt a flutter in her chest as he leaned down, brushing his lips over hers, causing her breath to hitch.
John suddenly pressed his lips against hers and she struggled to pull away but found herself melting into John's embrace as he kissed her harder. His hands trailed down her body and stroked her stomach. She moaned as he sucked on her neck and danced his fingers down her hips before hoisting one of her legs onto his hip.
;;John?" A female voice called from down the hallway.
John tore away from Maggie in time as Cynthia walked into the room, schooling his features into a bored expression. Maggie wiped her own mouth, feeling suddenly sick as her eyes landed on Cynthia's large pregnant stomach.
