Two weeks later. Location: London

Maggie's POV

I was a bit excited to return home  from my trip to the market, Max was in school and Lottie had taken Mary to the park. It has been a while since Paul and I had any alone time, especially since Mary was born.

I pulled into the driveway and practically ran to the front door. I half expected Paul to be where I left him, on the couch with his cup of tea and notebook beside him. Weirdly enough he wasn't in the living room or anywhere visibly on the main floor.

A sudden thump from upstairs caused me to furrow my brows and I walked up the stairs hearing another thump and my concern grew for my husband.

Our bedroom door was shut oddly and I swallowed thickly. I wish I was dreaming at that moment. I also wish I had been distracted at the market an hour longer, if only to prolong the inedible I knew waited for me. It was pathetic for me to try to deny what I knew what was happening based on the moans and slamming of the bed frame.

It was only when I heard Paul's voice cry out, did my heart shatter. "Oh God, Linda!"

Gripping the wall, I sucked in my breath, and turned on my heel, running back down the stairs, nearly tripping on my way and for a moment I was frightened Paul heard me and would follow.

I drove through London through blurry tear-filled eyes before stopping at an upscale hotel. Wiping my tears I slipped on a pair of sunglasses, less the press catch wind. After booking a suite  with Paul's credit card (which I took on purpose) the desk clerk, who seemed to recognize my plight, gave me sympathetic eyes when she noticed my distressed state.

That only made me feel worse.

I ordered a bottle of bourbon from room service and sat in front of the fireplace with a glass in my hand, staring at the flames.

After finishing my second glass, I reached over for the telephone and called up the house, praying Paul wouldn't answer.

It rang for a few minutes before a cheery voice answered. "McCartney residence! This is Lucy Harrison speaking!" I smiled at the sound of her happy little American accented voice.

"Hi lovey. It's Mummy." I heard Lucy gasp excitedly.

"Mommy where are you? It's almost dinner time! Uncle Paul and Lottie are worried, Max is complaining that he wants you to cook dinner tonight and refuses to eat Uncle Paul's vegetarian recipe." I could practically hear Lucy roll her eyes and I chuckled and cleared my throat.

"I'm ok. But I'm not gonna make it home for dinner baby." I prepared myself for the question.

"Oh, when are you coming home then?" Lucy sounded dejected, "Soon love." I heard Paul's voice ask in the background who was calling before his voice was in my ear.

"Maggie are you alright!? What happened to you? Darling, I was so worried! Where are you, I'll come pick you up." Paul sounded relieved over the phone and my throat tightened.

"I can't believe you would do that to me Paul. After everything I went through with John......All I will say is you have a choice. It's either me or her." I sneered and I could practically hear the gears turning in his head as he processed my words.

"What? Who love, I don't under-"

"That whore of yours Linda Eastman." I spat bitterly before slamming down the phone.
