b e f o r eI suddenly open my eyes without warning.
My dream fades into the back of my head.
I sit up, looking around.
I'm in my room, not in our wedding.
I pant as I look at the clock.
It read 2:57 am.
I look around once more.
I rub my eyes.
I search for Rey's body near me.
Nothing.
It's all a dream.
I choke.
I blink back the tears.
I grab my phone from the bedside table and call Rey, my fingers tapping at an impossible speed.
I sniff, bringing the phone to my ear.
It rings.
It rings again.
My heart sinks.
I bite my lip, tasting blood as tears went down.
It keeps on ringing.
I close my eyes.
Then he picks up.
I mumble incoherent words hastily to him.
I take a deep breath before crying out into the receiver, "Rey, I'm really sorry. I didn't know that I was treating you that way. I-I can't live without you. Please! You... You can't just tell me to move on when you're the one who was there when I was raped. You were the only one there who put me back together. You were the only one who was willing to talk to me even if I constantly pushed others away."
He didn't give me any reply.
I gulp, closing my eyes. "I knew I fucked up, b-but please don't let that get between our relationship."
Rey didn't say anything.
I can hear his deep breathing.
My heart sinks.
I close my eyes tighter.
Our memories appear beneath my eyelids in a flash.
"Rey," I whisper, "I'm still in love with you."
He hangs up.
