"Why's is your tone so down?" Blue asks through the phone curiously. "Is something wrong?"

I cringe at my reflection at the mirror. "Gym class. I hate it. My teacher made me run ten laps in our court."

He snickers.

My breath hitches.

"It's okay. It'll do you good."

"I'm so depressed about my weight." My voice crackes.

"Why?"

A hand flies to my stomach. I'm stripped naked. "I used to weigh 90 pounds. Now I'm 101," I whisper.

"Weighing 90 pounds for an eighteen-year old isn't good," Blue says as a matter-of-fact.

"I hate being fat."

"You aren't. You just think you are."

I close my eyes, looking away from the mirror. "I just hate seeing these layers of skin."

He sigh across the line. "Winter, you don't have to be skinny, believe me."

No.

"Wait, I have to feed Amber. Call you later, yeah?"

He hangs up.

"Sure."

I dress up and pad downstairs.

Marck and Mom are eating.

I take a seat beside Marck.

He babbles about school.

I stare at my bowl of chowder.

I stare at it harder.

You don't need it.

I notice Marck is also staring at me.

He slowly take my spoon, testing the waters if I would yell at him, and took a spoonful of it before smiling at me and carrying the spoon to my mouth.

You don't have to be skinny, believe me.

Suddenly, my stomach grumbles.

Marck and I both laugh.

Without saying anything, I let him shove the chowder in my mouth.

I see Mom duck her head as she tries to conceal her smile.
