Ava's P.O.V

(The night of the funeral)

"That's her." I said pointing out the familiar face that now haunted me. Everything about her natural beauty irked me from her honey brown eyes that contrasted against her mocha brown skin tone. The way her loose curls framed her round face as she smiled sweetly at the camera. Her innocent eight year old self not knowing the emotional turmoil she'd put me through later in life. "Ava I know who she is and so do you. You made me fly all the way from New York to show me a picture of your older cousin!?!" Stacey asked tiredly running her fingers along the scattered pool of pictures that surrounded our seated bodies.

"She was at the funeral Stacey." I muttered without taking my eyes off the picture. I would admit that she was a beautiful little girl and she grew into a beautiful woman. Yet that wasn't the problem, I remember when I first found the picture how highly my mother spoke about my "older cousin" I never got to meet her which of course now made sense seeing that I was the hidden child and all. Growing up I always wished that I would get to meet her seeing that I always wanted an older sister I guess I chose to settle for an older cousin thinking that my mother wouldn't want to remarry after loosing my father-the man she supposedly loved in a car accident. It was all a lie and surely whatever she told me about that little girl who was now a grown woman was too.

"A multi-millionaire died Ava who wasn't at the funeral?"Stacey asked paying more attention to the picture she held of her and I in fifth grade than she did to my distressed body. "She was with Bentley's cousin." I replied throwing the picture somewhere across my old room that remained the way I left it four years ago. "Okay I don't get where you're going with this." She said finally turning to look at where I agitatedly paced in the dark corner of my room. "I....I don't think she's my cousin Stacey." I said lowly my voice cracking with unwanted emotion.

"Of course she is Ava I was here when your mother told you about her. We found the picture in her room remember." Stacey pointed out clearly trying to steer me away from where my mind was veering too. "She looks exactly like my mother Stacey other than her complexion and eyes which clearly she inherited from her father. She lied just like she lied about everything I ever knew. This Holly  person who is supposedly  my cousins could be my older sister for all I know." I concluded an uneasy feeling settling in the pit of my stomach. My grandmother and they were up to something whatever it is wouldn't be pleasant at lest for me that much I knew.

(Presently the next day)

Plopping onto the plush cushions of the couch it partially soothed my aching muscles which finally allowed me to be comfortable. I didn't get much sleep last night which only meant that I'm a complete mess. "Mommy." Tyler greeted smiling largely before hoping onto my lap gripping a piece of paper in her hands. "Baby?" I asked my tired brown eyes getting lost in the depths of her blue orbs. "I painted this for daddy." She said flipping the paper over to reveal a stick drawing of her father wearing a red cape the paper adorned with odd shaped pink and red hearts she drew in crayon. "It's really pretty baby good job." I complemented my daughter kissing her on her cheek.

Glimpsing up at the digital clock that sat in the far corner of the entertainment room I mentally groaned when I saw that it was only eleven o'clock. It wasn't even noon and I was already burned out from simply taking the girls to their respected extracurricular activities which obviously still left them with a hell of a lot of energy. I didn't quite know why this pregnancy was taking so much out of me but I guess I'd rather be tired all the time any day over having to deal with morning sickness all over again. "Hello." A voice said shyly from across the room which almost made me jump out f my skin.
