✨Ava's P.O.V
My eyes lazily ran across the magazines that littered the floor in a vein attempt to ignore the blabbering woman who sat before me. Choosing to focus on anything other than the woman who carried me for nine months my mind aimlessly wondered to irrelevant topics like what color curtains I should put up next, or what I should make for dinner. Really anything that would drown out the irrelevant words that left my blundering mother's mouth.
"Are you listening to me?" She asked finally gaining my attention. "No I'm not Rachel could you please just say what you want to say." I said in a bored tone meeting her brown eyes not missing the glare she threw my way. "Ava-Marie you're such an ungrateful pest! The only reason I'm here is because I chose to help you!" She shot back defensively her statement earning her a hearty laugh. It was truly funny though almost on the verge of being hilarious.
"Oh and I'm in such need of your help after you've been gone for the past five years." I said sarcastically wearing a sweet smile. "I left because my family needed me Ava you were too busy being a whore to realize that you're entire life was a lie!" She screamed successfully touching the right nerve. "Don't you dare! How was I supposed to know my mother was a damn tramp who decided to have a double life? Rachel I was a child for crying out loud I needed you too! Dear God what teenager doesn't!" I screamed feeling all my frustration and anger coursing through my veins.
"You were a child who weaseled her way into the heart of an innocent boy's all for the love of money. I wasn't going to stand by your side when all you did was bring shame and disgrace to the fake name you bore! I had a real daughter who needed me unlike you she did something with her life other than bear children and feed off of rich men." She spat venomously yet strangely I sat calmly with my shaking hands interlocked together gazing at my heaving mother through clouded eyes.
"Holly." I stated already knowing that she was the daughter my mother was so proud of. "Yes Holly my beautiful daughter who has always been everything you were not Ava." She clarified causing yet another smile to grace my face. The smile just like the useless tears that filled my eyes carrying no emotion behind it yet they were the only things that were keeping my feet planted on the edge of sanity. "What did you come to tell me Rachel?" I asked wanting to get everything out of the way quickly so I could get this over with.
As if on cue my mother's 'husband' entered the room dropping a heavy folder onto my lap before walking out the front door. "You're going to sign that." She commanded causing me to scuff when I opened the folder seeing the divorce papers I'd threatened for so long to have filed but never did. The truth was no matter how angry Bentley would get me I could never grow to hate him. Even if I'd never admit it out loud he would always be the love of my life though he's hurt me I could never see myself living happily without him.
"Just like everybody else in your life, Bentley has finally gotten tired of loving your weak ass." She growled those being her final words before my fist connected with her jaw. I was sick and tired of my family choosing to walk all over me. I'd had enough of everybody taking me for a joke and as a weakling they could just pick on and all I'd do is run the opposite way and cry. Dragging her lifeless body off the chair she sat on I slammed her frail body to the floor moving so I sat on her chest my tight fist contacting her face repeatedly.
At this point I didn't care that I was physically assaulting my own mother on my living room floor or that my once plane white baby doll dress was now stained red. What I cared about though was getting my family back together. Yet that thought came crashing down around me when I heard his deep voice fill the room the familiar sound being emitted from the answering machine my entire body running cold.
