Lowery's eyes fluttered open, the shapes of his surroundings came to him to in a blur of dark colors; his leg was stinging and there was a sharp pain over the left side of his hip. The tech turned his head to the left, the cold floor sending shivers up his spine, sitting on the floor with a back pack between her legs, Bea's figure slowly took shape.
"What are you doing?" he croaked, Bea turned to look at him, she had seen him shifting and turning in his sleep and she had assumed he would soon wake up.
"Packing" explained Bea, "I took the liberty to go through your back pack, by the way"
"That's fine" whispered Lowery "What happened?"
"You fainted" answered Bea, she pushed the back pack and crawled towards her friend "I think it was from the pain you know?"
"What time is it?"
"I don't know" Bea placed the back of her hand over his forehead "But the sun is getting low" she smiled as relief spread through her body that Lowery wasn't running a fever "I found this room" she continued she looked around "It had pillows so I dragged you here"
"My hip hurts"
"Oh" whispered Bea, she looked down at her hands "Yeah, I figured"
Lowery frowned, but didn't try to push himself to a sitting position despite his body begging him to do so "Why?"
"A shard of glass jammed itself into your hip when I was pulling you here" answered Bea "But, if it makes you feel better I got cut too and I fixed the wound"
"It doesn't make me feel better" whispered Lowery.
"Pretend it does" smiled Bea, "Do you want to sit down?"
"Yeah" he grunted.
Bea crouched and after a few minutes of effort Lowery was able to sit down, his ankle swollen and aching.
"If we are found this place" frowned Lowery as he looked around the room, rapidly recognizing it as a resting room, they had had one similar at his post in Jurassic World "Where's Andrew?"
"I don't know" sighed Bea, she pushed a few lose hairs back, Lowery noticed she had pulled her hair into a tighter braid. "I checked and he is not here, and from all the animals that walk past here none is that asshole"
"Do you think he's dead?"
"I sure hope so" whispered Bea, Lowery looked at her but Bea wasn't looking at him "I have a plan Low"
"Ok" whispered Lowery.
"I'll hike back to the beach tomorrow morning, maybe I can catch the rescue team" Lowery's face lost all its color.
"You are gonna leave me here alone?" he whispered like a scared child, because to be honest he was terrified and in terrible pain.
"No" Bea answered quickly, she took his hand "I'll leave you the radio and water and food, I don't think I'll be long"
"What if Andrew comes?" asked Lowery "He will try to kill me"
"You kill him then" whispered Bea.
"What?" whispered Lowery.
Bea looked at Lowery with a dead stare, his big eyes scanned her face for some indication that she was joking or trying to lighten the mood but her face didn't give.
"You are not serious are you?"
"I am" she whispered "If he comes here and he tries to hurt you, you hurt him first"
"Is that what you did with Hoskins?" Lowery asked without intending too, Bea looked away rapidly as a flashback of his body against hers slapped her mind. "I'm sorry"
"Its fine" whispered Bea, she hadn't killed Hoskins but she wasn't going to pretend she was sad that Charlie had killed him, not after what he had intended to do with her before Zach got there.
"How bad do you think a night here is going to be?" asked Lowery trying to lighten the mood that he had help tense up.
"Very" Bea answered, a sad smile stretching over her face.
Lowery and Bea sat in silence next to each other, the critters of the night chirping and talking as the shadows grew bigger and Lowery noticed for the first time that a flashlight was on, facing to the ceiling trying to illuminate all the small resting room.
The tech turned to his companion, Bea had saved his life when she had dragged him up to the captain's room and when she had wacked and killed a few Compys just a few hours ago but she looked gentle and calm even with a few stains of blood over her shirt and her shorts; Lowery leaned forward to speak but his stomach grumbled loudly, making Bea turned to look at him with a mocking smile over her face.
"Are you hungry or are the Compys coming?" she joked.
"Lame joke" snorted Lowery "I'm starving actually, I think I just noticed because the adrenaline rush is gone"
"Luckily for you, Mr." started Bea as she turned around and crawled towards the back pack she had been inspecting before he woke up "I counted our water bottles and granola bars and such and we will survive, I tell you"
Lowery smiled, like Bea's brother and Zach, he couldn't even begin to imagine the horrors she had gone through in the past four years.
"You packed granola bars?"
"I did" smiled Bea, she turned to Lowery and crawled back to him "I have twenty granola bars and four water bottles, and in your back pack I found a now useless iPod, a squashed MilkyWay and two water bottles together with your ID and shit, but I have no idea why you would need your ID and wallet on an island full of dinosaurs" Bea shrugged as she started to open the back pack "Where you planning on buying something at the gift store or what?"
Lowery chuckled as he rolled his eyes, he had actually forgotten how fun Bea was, he remembered their inside jokes when she had been at Jurassic World and his soul lightened up as relief filled his body just by knowing he wasn't alone in that island.
"You get five granola bars today and five tomorrow" smiled Bea as she passed him the bars "And three water bottles for all the night and tomorrow until I return"
"Seems fair" smiled Lowery as he took the items Bea was handing him.
"What do you think an appropriate dinner conversation would be?" asked Bea, she had unwrapped a granola bar.
A loud and unnerving screech was heard near the tech room, Bea almost dropped her granola bar and Lowery felt his heart drop as his hand curled around one of his bars.
"Not that" whispered Bea, she gulped as she tried to sound cheerful.
"Agreed" answered Lowery, tried to pretend he wasn't terrified.
