ELENA

Love sucks. Either you're extremely happy, or you're hurting. Me, I'm not sure what I am. Sam, he makes me have hope in myself. He believes in me, and that's something no one has ever done. He makes me feel good about myself. However, his love hurts me. My heart physically hurts. There's so many secrets, and I don't know if I can handle keeping anymore. I love Sam so much, but it's because I love him that I don't know if I can handle this anymore.

I woke up alone in Sam's bed. Curiosity ran through my body. Where was he? Immediately, I glanced over at the clock. It was nine in the morning. I was late for school. Nervousness rushed through my body. I couldn't be late! Why didn't he wake me? I hopped out of bed and ran to the bathroom to get ready. On the mirror was a sticky note. I looked at the sloppy handwriting.

It said:

Elena,

Don't worry about going to school today. You need your rest. I'll collect your work.

I love you,

Sam

I smiled at the note. Sam is such a gentle and kind man in such a large and intimidating body. As I stood there smiling, I realized that I probably should get ready.

I hopped in his shower and got clean. The warm water helped me relax. All I needed was Sam here, and my stress would be gone. I got out and dried off. I brushed my hair and put one of Sam's shirts on over my shorts. Yes, his shirt basically ate me whole, but it was extremely comfortable. I brushed through my long wet brown hair. As soon as I got done, there was a knock at the door. Curiosity and confusion ran through me. Who could possibly be here?

I walked over to the door and opened it to my infuriating father. I could see his eyes getting ready to pop out of his head.

"What do you want?" I asked him angrily. I crossed my arms as I waited for his response.

"I knew you'd be here," he said.

"Yeah well I didn't have anywhere else to go. Now, what do you want?"

He hesitated on answering.

"Tell me, or I'm slamming the door in your face and getting back to my hot coffee which you so rudely interrupted," I snarked at him.

"I'm picking you up," he said.

"For what?" I asked him.

"I'm taking you to the airport," he replied.

"Now, why in hell would I go to the airport?" I yelled.

"You're going to live with your Aunt Jenna."

"To hell I am!" I yelled.

"Watch your mouth Elena," he told me. I laughed and let him continue. "We had a deal."

"A deal I never agreed to!" I said.

"Well, either you come with me, or I go back to school and fire your little friend," he negotiated.

"You can't do that!" I yelled.

"Elena, I can do whatever I want to do. I'm your principal remember?" He asked me. Principal, huh.

"Aren't you supposed to be my father? Aren't you supposed to support me? Don't you want your little girl to be happy?" I asked him.

"Come with me Elena," he demanded.

"No," I told him.

"Well then say goodbye to your little boyfriend," he said. I stopped myself from punching in the face. "I'll let you grab your things, then you need to be on that plane headed to see your Aunt Jenna. You have until tomorrow morning." He turned around and started to walk away.
