"So, who do you want to bang? Him?"

She smirked. "Why? Did you expect it to be you?" She said sarcastically.

Oh how he hate this man! The very thought that he could make her body tremble despite that oozing hate is beyond her! Paano ba nito nagagawa iyon? That is still the biggest question mark in her head.

"Why, do you want me to expect?"

"Over my dead body!"

"Tsk. You'd rather have your body dead than to have this?" Inilahad nito ang katawan.

"God.. I'm gonna puke.." she said as if what he'd said is the most disgusting idea in the whole wide world.

"But you didn't puke when you had this body in our library, darling. If I remember it correctly, you were looking at this body like you want to devour it whole.. Want me to prove it to you?"

She gasped, "Jerk! Oh how I hate you!"

This time, he smirked. "The feeling is mutual then."

Pumikit siya ng mariin. "Bakit hindi na lang natin tapusin ito kung ganoon? We both hate and can't stand each other! So back out from this engagement!" She hissed at him.

"Why don't you?" Nang-aasar na sagot nito.

"I already did. But my deluded parents said that you want to marry me so I should too!"

"I would never say such things." He said flatly.

Hindi na dapat siya magtaka na sasabihin nito iyon pero natamaan pa din ang ego niya. Hell, any guy would die to marry her! She is successful.. a beauty and brains... she's hot and sexy not to mention an heir! Who wouldn't want to marry her?

Now that sounds so egoistic but hell, she is just telling the damned truth!

"We hate each other and we will be married! That is short for a death sentence for the both of us. We won't reach our first weeksary without anyone of us lying in a hospital bed nursing a broken neck!"

"Please. You're exaggerating."

"My thoughts telling me to stick this steak knife down your throat till you choke to death is an exaggeration then huh?"

Humagalpak ito ng tawa sa sinabi niya. "My..." he said, still chuckling. "I never thought I have a psycho for a fiancè. Lucky me.."

Napahigpit ang hawak niya sa steak knife. Eh kung tusukin niya kaya ang mga mata nito? Tignan niya lang kung maging lucky pa ito!

"I hate you."

"You already said that. Try another term." Sarkastikong wika nito.

Tinitigan niya ito ng masama. Then she asked..

"Ikaw? Why do you hate me?"

Halatang natigilan ito sa tanong niya. Napabuga ito ng hininga pagkatapos.

"You already know the answer to that."

"No I don't." She lied.

"So you are a liar too then.."

She rolled her eyes, "Hindi ko sinasadya okay?" Turan niya.

His eyes became suddenly sad na ikinatigil niya.

"Too late for that now, don't you think?" Mapait nitong sabi. "When my parents first told me that I will be marrying you, my first thought was.. what the fuck?"

Napangiwi siya doon.

"I hated you since..." Tumigil ito. Then he sighed again. "Tsk. What is the use of reminiscing? It won't turn back time anyway. We are just hurting ourselves the more we look back on the things that could have been.. the what ifs.."

She looked at him. For the first time, she saw a side of him that is different.. kakaiba sa nakakainis na Aiden Montaniez na lagi nitong ipinapakita sa kanya.

And she had caused this side of him.. dahil lang sa maling akala noon, she caused him to have this unbearable feelings of what ifs and what could have beens. Siya ang rason kung bakit galit ito sa kanya ngayon. Sumira siya ng relasyon kaya malamang na talagang magalit ito sa kanya. Wala siyang dapat na sisihin. Hindi dapat siya magalit dito dahil sa umpisa pa lang siya naman talaga ang dahilan..

Napalabi siya. She had decided. Kailangang bumawi siya dito.

"If.." Tumitig ito sa kanya. "If.. you get your happy ending wi.." napalunok siya. Bakit biglang bumara ang lalamunan niya? She cleared her troath. "I mean with her.. are you going to be happy? Makakabawi ba ako?"

Nanatili lamang itong nakatitig sa kanya. Five seconds.. 10 seconds... then he laughed.
"You are really serious, aren't you?" Natatawa pa ring sabi nito.

"So what if I am?" Diretsang sabi niya.

Nang humupa na ang tawa nito ay napatitig ito sa kanya ng seryoso, "Then huwag mo nang ituloy."

"Why?"

"Because it has been years. Maybe she has a family of her own now. Maybe hindi na kami pwede. Tingin mo hindi mas lalong masakit iyon? Seeing her with someone else when it should have been me?"

She bit her lip. She didn't thought about that. Ngayon parang mas lalo pang lumaki ang atraso niya dito. Pero...

"Those are just maybes. Paano kung hindi pa siya kasal? Paano kung tulad mo..." napadiin ang kagat niya sa labi niya. "Paano kung hinihintay ka pa rin niya? You hate what ifs and what could have beens... pero bakit pumapayag ka sa mga maybes?"

He just stared at her. Pakiramdam niya matutunaw siya sa mga titig nito.

"Ayoko lang ng umaasa.."

Natahimik siya. "You wouldn't know that if you won't try finding her." She said after a while.

He expelled a mouthful of air, "You are stubborn, don't you know that."

She smiled, "Let's just say.. I hate being controlled into doing what I don't want to do without giving a fight."

"So this is all about the engagement, huh? And here I thought gusto mo lang makabawi." He said sarcastically.

"That. And of course, to stop the engagement. Pareho naman tayong magbebenefit doon. And if your first love comes back..." Napalunok siya, "You wouldn't want her finding out that the man she loves is engaged with another woman, would you?"

Hindi ito nagsalita. Bumuga siya ng hangin. She gave him a sweet smile then raised her hand for a handshake.

He just stared at her. Yung tipo ng tingin na hindi niya maarok.

She sighed hanggang siya na lang ang mismong kumuha ng kamay nito para i-handshake iyon.

"There. Now, we have a deal."

"Tsk. Go on then. Do what you want." Pagkatapos niyon ay tumayo na ito at naglakad palayo.

She should be happy right? She should be glad that she could make things right for them.

But what is this gnawing feeling in her gut? Bakit ang bigat ng dibdib niya pagkatapos nitong sabihin iyon?
