PRESENT TIME
Jang Mi stood in the dance studio with her hands on her knees, completely out of breath. She was currently learning the dance for Come Back Home by 2ne1. The choreographer was happy that it was easy teaching Jang Mi. However, Jang Mi was trained in America and even than, her training wasn't to this extent. She was singing and dancing while Ji Yong watched creepily from the side. He hasn't said anything since arriving into the dance studio together. Jang Mi felt nervous with his judging eyes watching her every move for every mistake he could point out.
"Jang Mi-ah, come drink some water." Ji Yong called out.
Jang Mi raised her head from the position she was currently in and walked over. "Thank you." She said with a slight bow as she received the bottle of water. "Ji Yong oppa, tell me your honest opinion. Am I going over my head with this whole debut thing?" She asked.
Ji Yong sat silently for a few long seconds before finally answering. "Yeah. I do think you're going over your head. You're an actress Jang Mi, and you expect to suddenly debut as a singer." Jang Mi nodded, torn at a cross road of quitting and continuing on with her late dream. "But," he suddenly says, causing Jang Mi's attention to shift back onto him instead of the feelings of wanting to cry. "That's exactly what makes you special. I think you're going to be a great aspect to the YG music family. I'm watching your practice, you're amazingly qualified to become a singer under the company. You sound as if you've trained by one of the big threes." Ji Yong chuckled. "What I'm saying is, do what you want to do and don't hold back. Don't have any doubts in yourself. The moment you doubt yourself and your decisions, it's going to show and you're going to lack the most important part of being an artist."
Jang Mi nodded as if she knew how to cure cancer. "Beauty?" She said.
Ji Yong blankly stared at her. "No. That's not remotely close." He said eyeing her weirdly. "Confidence, Jang Mi! It's confidence. If you don't have confidence, you'll lack in everything you do. It'll affect everything you do from your dancing, singing and stage presence." Jang Mi smiled at him as her heart warmed with his encouraging words. "Beauty?" Ji Yong suddenly scoffed. "Is that all there is to being an idol?"
Jang Mi laughed. "So I've been told. I wouldn't have been able to get this far in my career if I wasn't easy on the eyes. I minus well become a comedian."
It caused Ji Yong to chuckle but he stopped instantly when Jang Mi pulled him in for a warm hug. "Jang Mi-ah, we shou..."
"Thank you for helping me oppa. I wouldn't be able to do this if it weren't for you." Jang Mi said cutting him off. "I'm happy that you're helping me." She said as she pulled away and received an encouraging smile from him.
...
Ji Yong had left the studio an hour ago and Jang Mi had finished up practice and was ready to leave. But as she was leaving, she bumped into Choi Seung-Hyun. He wasn't expecting her to be there and he didn't know why she was there. They stared at each other for awhile before Choi Seung-Hyun pulled her back into the dance studio. He looked at her and looked at her attire.
"Have you been dancing?" He asked.
Jang Mi shook her head. "Working out. Not dancing."
"What are you doing here so late? The building is already locked up." He said.
"I could say the same to you." Jang Mi said eyeing him curiously.
Choi Seung-Hyun smiled. "I might have fallen asleep in one of the recording studios." He said.
Jang Mi frowned. "If you're tired you should of went home to rest. Why are you sleeping in the studio? Are you not feeling well?" He looked away, avoiding eye contact with Jang Mi. "Choi Seung-Hyun!" Jang Mi said seriously.
"I was following you and Ji Yong. I was leaving my recording session when I saw the both of you walking into a dance studio but it had curtains covering the door." Choi Seung-Hyun explained with an annoyance to his tone.
Jang Mi was ready to explain when her phone pinged. Someone was texting her. She thought it was her brother who who was probably waiting for her outside but the messages kept coming in and it was coming in fast. Then Choi Seung-Hyun's cellphone started ringing with text messages. Jang Mi took out her phone and read a text from Ji Yong. 'I don't know who took it. Don't worry too much, I'll call President Yang.' Was his text message. It didn't make any sense until Jang Mi continued to the next messages. 'Cheating on our oppa? I knew you weren't good enough.' 'Wow! With G-Dragon? His own band mate? You're going to make them fight over you?' 'You stupid bit*h! I knew you were only going to hurt him!' 'You just made us VIPs even more mad.' 'Could you seriously get any more annoying?' 'Ji Yong? Stay away from our Ji Yong Oppa!' 'Keep your claws away from him you whore.' 'Wow! This is the nation's ideal type? I worry for our nation because they like cheaters.' 'Stop acting innocent and own up to your mistakes.' 'Unni, don't listen to those VIPs! I know you're innocent. I hope.' 'Go kill yourself.' Jang Mi couldn't read anymore because they blurred from the water that built up at the rim of her eyes. Jang Mi didn't know what they were talking about. She couldn't even understand Ji Yong's text. Everything was too confusing.
"Jang Mi-ah." Choi Seung-Hyun's voice made her look up. "Look." He showed her his phone. "Someone took a photo of you hugging Ji Yong." Choi Seung-Hyun sighed. "Why were you hugging him?" He asked with a hint of anger and jealousy.
Jang Mi choked back a sob. "Don't say anything out of anger. You might regret it later." Jang Mi snapped before turning her back on him.
Jang Mi left the dance studio and made her way down the flights of stairs in the building. She was crying out of pure anger and disbelief. Who ever took the picture left both Choi Seung-Hyun and Kwon Ji Yong in an awkward place. She wanted to find whoever it was and beat them down. Choi Seung-Hyun would never forgive her because she wasn't able to tell him that Ji Yong was helping her become a singer. Jang Mi wanted to surprise him. She wanted to make him proud of her because she was able to achieve her own dream and she wanted to be someone who was worthy of being next to someone like Choi Seung-Hyun. Someone who is worthy of being loved by someone like Choi Seung-Hyun. The more she worked for this, she felt like more things continued to try and stop her. It was making her mad but it also made her more determined to continue being what she wants. She needs to become a singer to shut her mom up and to have Choi Seung-Hyun as her own. Jang Mi wasn't about to give up the love of her life. Not for anything.
