Bae Jang Mi had sat in her apartment, hair tied in a messy bun and wearing nothing but her black tracksuit. She was busy stuffing her mouth like she wasn't supposed to be on a diet, which she's supposed to be on. Jang Mi felt sadden by the busy schedule that Choi Seung-Hyun had since their album was still being released. Their promotional period was longer than Jang Mi's one for her drama. She still had a few other things to tend to but at the moment, her schedule was open.
Jang Mi's phone suddenly rang and she answered it without looking at the caller ID. "Hello?"
"Jang Mi-ah, it's me, Choi Seung-Hyun's mom." Jang Mi shot up off the floor, spilling noodles all over the floor.
"Ah, mom," Jang Mi rushed with her mouth filled with noodles. "Are you alright? Do you need me for anything?" She asked.
"Don't worry, I'm alright. I was wondering if you weren't too busy, we could go get lunch together or a cup of coffee. Somewhere near your house perhaps?" She asked.
"Oh, no, mom! I'll come to you. Just text me where ever you want to go and I'll be there in twenty minutes." Jang Mi said stripping out of her tracksuit in a rush.
"Alright, see you soon."
*30 Minutes later*
Jang Mi was late which wasn't an impression she wanted to leave on Choi Seung-Hyun's mom. Jang Mi was freezing but she wanted to dress like a proper human during winter. Jang Mi wore black leggings and a beige boot that was knee high. She wore a white dress that stopped just above her midthigh and a blue coat that stopped just bellow her belly button. She wore a long beige scarf to protect her from what the cold winter brought in. She carried a big brown bag along with her, carrying everything she could shove in it.
Jang Mi walked into the coffee shop Choi Seung-Hyun's mother had chosen to meet at. The warmth of the coffee shop engulfed her and she instantly unwrapped her scarf from around her neck and bunched it in her arms. People around her started to notice her as she walked in. Nobody said anything just sat there with their phones, sneaking shots of her.
Jang Mi scanned the room and couldn't see Choi Seung-Hyun's mom. She was hoping she didn't show too late where his mom would up and leave. Jang Mi couldn't do anything but sit in a chair and stare at the door. She hadn't waited too long when the door opened and in walked his mom, elegantly, with a smile on her face.
"I hope I didn't make you wait!" She said unwrapping her scarf from her neck.
Jang Mi stood up and bowed. "No you're just on time." Jang Mi pointed to the seat across from her. "Please sit, I'll order us some coffee."
Jang Mi smiled. She took the order Choi Seung-Hyun's mom had given her and went to the counter. Jang Mi wasn't a coffee drinker, so she ordered herself some green tea. She sat down in the chair after setting the hot beverages down. She also placed a small plate of a varieties of different cookies for the two of them to enjoy.
As Jang Mi did all this, Choi Seung-Hyun's mother kept a close eye on every movement she made. She could see why Choi Seung-Hyun liked Jang Mi. She had no doubt about the beauty Jang Mi possessed. It's natural and untouched by a surgeon in Korea. His mom could easily tell a natural from a fake and Jang Mi's body was everything but fake. Jang Mi's body portions seemed to fit naturally but not too natural where it looked perfect. The last thing she wanted was her son to be deceived by someone who got her looks from a doctor and not by God himself.
"Drink, mom. It's snowing a lot lately so you need to keep your throat warm before you get sick." Jang Mi suggested as she took a sip of her tea.
"Thank you." She replied.
The silence between the two felt awkward. Jang Mi didn't want to speak first because she knew that Choi Seung-Hyun's mom has something she wanted to say. So Jang Mi sat still. Unable to say a word. But the liquid that remained in her cup was slowly emptying as she continuously took awkward sips.
"Did you want to ask me anything?" Jang Mi asked.
"Ah, it's obvious isn't it!" She said jokingly before she got serious. "Seung-Hyun-ie is my only son. He was a very sensitive child growing up, even up until now. During his training days, he had a hard time and mostly felt lonely." She teared a little. "My son worked hard to get to where he is at. I don't want anything to hurt him." Jang Mi nodded. "He had this friend when he was in high school. When both he and my son were underground rappers, he was much older than Seung-Hyun but they got along well." She smiled brightly before continuing. "During his training days, Choi Seung-Hyun called his friend and asked to meet him in his dorm since he was too busy. At the time, Seung-Hyun collected these dolls or action figures and told his friend that they were his only friends and he talked to them a lot. That's how he got rid of the loneliness that haunted him during his training days." A tear fell from her eyes as she spoke. "My son carries heart aches easily. I ask of you not to hurt my son and that if loving my son is your true intentions, I can't do anything but to ship this relationship or what ever you kids are calling it." She said with a small chuckle.
Jang Mi instantly stood up with tears at the brim of her eyes and hugged Choi Seung-Hyun's mom. Jang Mi wasn't too sure if she did it to comfort his mom or herself. Hearing of how lonely Choi Seung-Hyun had felt during his training years broke Jang Mi's heart. He was such a caring person with a sweet heart and Jang Mi couldn't imagine him going through such hardships during his training period. He did work hard to be where he is at now and he deserved everything he got and then some. Jang Mi could understand where his mom was coming from. She didn't want Choi Seung-Hyun to go through any other pain and Jang Mi could easily cause his heart to ache.
Jang Mi pulled away from the hug and sat in her seat. She held his mom's hands in her own while warmly smiling. "If a day comes where I break your son's heart, I would like you to know it's not because I never intended on loving him from the start but because I might not be good enough for him and he knows it too. Only then will I be able to hurt your son."
Choi Seung-Hyun's mother had no idea what Jang Mi was talking about. She just knew that Jang Mi was being sincere with her words. It seemed to her that Jang Mi was carrying something dark within her and she wasn't sure if she wanted that near her son. However, she couldn't go back on her words now. All she could hope for was when that problem, Jang Mi has inside of her explodes, she hopes her son is far away from it.
