"You've been here for a while now. You should go home and shower." Ji Hoon said entering the hospital room.
Choi Seung-Hyun ran a hand through his hair tired and depressed. "It's been two weeks. Why hasn't she woken up yet? They said the surgery was a success."
Ji Hoon inhaled and exhaled at hearing the same question Choi Seung-Hyun always asked. "Seung-Hyun-ah, she's just in a coma. Nobody knows when she'll wake up. Just go I'll keep an eye on her while you go home shower and rest. Then come back in the morning."
"You'll call me right? If she wakes up?" Choi Seung-Hyun asked which Ji Hoon nodded.
Choi Seung-Hyun stood up and took his coat off the chair he sat on. He leaned over her bed and placed a kiss on her forehead, then her nose, then to both of her cheeks, and then finally leaving a small peck on her lips. It was the same routine he did everytime Ji Hoon had to force him to leave. Same pattern and same desperate need for her to wake up. Ji Hoon patted his back as Choi Seung-Hyun exited the room with one last look at Jang Mi's body that lay helplessly on the bed. He stared at her for a couple of long seconds before he could get himself to actually leave.
Ji Hoon walked into the VIP room and set his bags down by the chair before sitting and relaxing. He eyed his sister as she lay in the hospital bed. Choi Seung-Hyun blamed himself for not being able to find her sooner than he did that day. However, Ji Hoon knew it was his fault. He let his gaurd down since his mom hadn't made much noise and Jang Mi was the one who had gotten hurt because of it. He blamed himself for not being able to protect his sister like he was supposed to. Like an older brother is supposed to. He wanted to be the one laying in bed. He wanted to be the one to get shot by his mom. Jang Mi didn't deserve this and he knew that very well.
Ji Hoon sighed as he felt his phone vibrate. "Hello?" He answered into the phone.
"Hyung, I'm here." Ji Soo said on the other end.
"Ah, Ji Soo-ah, come up then." Ji Hoon sighed.
"They said I can't because we're not related and they won't let me in until she actually wakes up. I even bought balloons and a teddy bear. Should I just leave it here?"
Ji Hoon sighed at how naive he was. "I told you to lie to them."
"I was going too but they looked like they were devouring my soul." Ji Soo whispered into the phone.
Ji Hoon sighed and ran a hand down his face. "Just wait I'm coming down." Ji Hoon said and got up to go get Ji Soo.
It was in that moment when Jang Mi was starting to wake up. Her brain was up before anything. She could hear her brother's voice. She tried opening her eyes but it felt like opening a rusty sliding door. It was heavy and hard to do. Jang Mi finally lifted her eye lids, only for them to shut back down tightly. Her eyes weren't used to the bright lights that came pouring in. She let her eyes blink a few times before they adjusted to the brightness.
It took Jang Mi awhile to understand exactly where she was at. She was in a hospital room. The ones made for VIPs. It also made her remember exactly why she was in the hospital. Mom. She said to herself. She tried moving her arms to feel her body. She couldn't recall where her mom had shot her. She also couldn't believe her mom would actually go that far. Jang Mi couldn't understand what mother would shoot their own child. It made no sense to Jang Mi and she decided she would never forgive her for this even if it killed her.
After putting herself back together, she let her eyes see what's inside the room. Her eyes wandered over to the living room area. The coffee table was covered with flowers and balloons. Even teddy bears. Jang Mi didn't know who brought any of it but she was more than thankful. She never saw so much balloons and flowers in her life. It made her heart warm up.
She tried sitting up but her whole body ached. It felt like her whole body was asleep. It was so stiff. She groaned. She was wondering where her brother went. She could have sworn she had heard his voice. From a laying position she couldn't really see much. However, she heard the door of the room slide open.
