I walked into the pub with Ben. I clutched his hand tightly. This one was darker than the other one. It hard a lot of older people in it, and not as much noise. There was no blaring dance music, so it was much easier to hear each other.
Ben lead me over to the bar. He whispered franatically to the bar tended. I glanced around the club to see if I could see Danny. I spotted a tall, brown haired girl standing in a corner, with what looked like the blonde hair of Danny underneath her. I let go of Ben's hand and carefully picked my way through the small crowd. I could feel the hang over form my many beers start to kick in, but I pushed it off. I had more important things to worry about.
I neared the girl and the man. I quietly peaked around her shoulder. She was to busy giving him head to notice me, but it wasn't Danny. I let out a silent sight and tried to find Ben. He was no longer at the bar. I tried to keep my anxiety level low as I made my way back to the bar. Yeah, he was defiantly gone. I glanced around the pub, trying to find my best friend. I couldn't see him messy mop of hair any where.
"Excuse me," I said quietly to the bar tender. He turned and looked at me, smiling a toothy grin.
"Can I help you?" he said, saliva running down the sides of his mouth. I tried not ti shudder.
"The boy I came in here with, did you see where he went?" I asked, trying to keep my face straight as he looked at my low cut dress that scooped a little to low at the moment. He gave me another disgusting grin, finally wiping away the drool from his mouth.
"I think he left ya, sweetheart, why don't you wait around here for him?" he said, eyes gleaming. I tried to smile.
"No, it's okay. we're looking for another friend, so he might be off looking for him. Thanks though," I said, backing slowly away from the bar. He looked like he was a bout to protest, but he stopped himself, only to give me another grin.
I quietly left the pub. Now I was lost. I had no idea where anyone was, and I didn't have my cell to call anyone either.
"Good thinking, Brodie," I said to myself. My head was screaming now. I leaned against the outside wall of the pub, sighing in anger. Why wasn't I using my head when we left the house? I hated myself for being so dumb.
I heard frantic footsteps approaching me. I jerked my head up and almost cried with relief. Ben was running towards me, tears streaming down his face.
"Brodie! Brodie! He's dead, I think he's dead!" he screamed. I tried to keep calm as Ben slammed into me, sobbing loudly.
"Ben, come one, where is he. You can't just leave him, come on. Call what ever sort of emergency number you have here and let's get a move on," I said as calmly as I could as I dragged him towards where he came from. He tried to get himself together as he lead me to the pub next door to the one were were just in. He didn't say anything to the bartender, we just ran up the back stairs. He slammed open doors, screaming for Danny.
"I can't remember what door!" he sobbed, throwing more doors open. I rested my hand on his shoulder . He relaxed slightly, but he was still crying.
"Come on, Ben, this isn't finding Danny, come on, think," I pleaded. I watched as his face scrunched up. Then his eyes shot open and he ran down the hall to the door at the very end. He threw it open, screaming Danny's name.
"Danny! Danny! Wake up please! Danny! Danny!" He sobbed, slapping Danny's face. i tried to keep my composure as I walked over to them, Danny was pale, his eyes dead looking. He had foam coming out of his mouth. Ben was right, he did look dead. I shoved Ben off the small bed Danny was laying on. I checked for a pulse, but there was nothing. I chocked back sobs as I laid my head on his chest, ignoring the foamy saliva that dripped on my head. I heard nothing.
"Come on Ben, I need to get him up. I can head the ambulance outside, come on Ben!" I screamed. I threw Danny's arm over my shoulder and heaved him up. It wasn't easy, seeing as he was much larger than I was. Ben still did nothing. I sighed angrily. I drug Danny down the hallway towards the stairs. He was still frothing, which told me he was alive in there somewhere. I don't know how I managed to get him down the stairs, but two bigger guys saw me struggling with him and helped me put him in the ambulance.
"What's wrong with him," the paramedic asked as they strapped him down. The tears were falling fast now. I didn't bother stopping them anymore.
"Over dose," I said softly. The paramedic nodded and slammed the door shut in my face. It took of, taking Danny with them. I crumpled to the sidewalk, crying hard now.
"Fuck you, Danny! Why'd you have to fucking do this!" I screamed to no one. I sobbed violently, clutching my legs to my chest. I don't know how long I sat there and cried. But I felt someone scoop me up and cradle me to their chest. I pressed my face into who's ever neck it was, looking up to see who found me. It was Jona. I cried more. I needed him just as much as I needed Ben and Oli.
"Oh, Jona!" I sobbed. He said nothing, just set me in his car, buckling me in. "Don't forget Ben," I said. He nodded.
"Lee and James already got him. Some how, before he broke down, he managed to get a message to everyone. We found him upstairs. It's gonna be okay, Brod. You guys saved him. We're going to the hospital now. You guys did it," Jona said, pressing his lips to my forehead. I only sobbed harder.
"Where's Oli," I asked quietly. Jona looked at me sharply.
"Lee told me what happened, He's fine. He's on his way to the hospital as well. He hasn't stopped crying. Brodie, he really feels bad about what happened," Jona whispered. I nodded again. I knew I was going to have to face him. I couldn't get the images of the girl pressing close to him, his laugh, her fingers running over his arm...
I shook myself, trying to stop crying. Jona climbed out and shut the door. I hadn't noticed Matty and Cam in the back. The were both somber and silent. Matty gave me a sad smile. I tried to return it, but I knew it failed.
Jona drove us to the hospital. We were all quiet as we reached the entrance. I carefully climbed out and let Matty out. We walked up the the hospital doors. I clutched Jona's hand for support. he squeezed and gave me a smile.
The rest of the guys were waiting in the lobby. Most were dripping with rain water, others were sitting quietly or pacing. Ben was no where to be seen. I figured he was probably with Danny. My eyes instantly found Oli. He was sitting off in the corner by himself, staring down at his hands. I still didn't want to talk with him, so I walked over to Jake and Cameron and curled up between them. Cam rested his hand on my leg. I gave them a weak smile.
A tiny nurse came walking out. She looked at our gang and gasped, clutching her tiny clipboard.
"The Worsnop family?" she stammered. We all jumped and, scrambling towards the nurse. She looked like she was going to pass out.
"Guys, chill, please," I shouted. Everyone stopped rushing the poor girl. She gave me a thank you smile, and I nodded in return. "What's the news?" I asked her.
"Well, he's going to be fine, It seems as though someone tried to drug him," she said. I heard James curse.
"Fucking hell," he spat.
"He'lll be fine though, if you would like to see him. He's awake now," she said, but that was all she had time to say. The gang rushed forward, pushing the tiny nurse aside. I shouted an apology at her and we sprinted down the hallway, not even bothering to ask what room he was in.
We sprinted down the hall way, peering into the tiny windows of hospital windows. Finally, I caught a glimpse of Danny's frizzy blonde hair sticking up from one of the hospital beds.
"Guys, it's this one," i said as loudly as I dared. They all came to a stop and flipped around. I sucked in a big gulp of air and pushed the door open.
