Chapter 3

Sungjae's POV:

"Why are you not coming to the mountain hike project?" I asked Sohyun for our Question & Answer time.

"I'm not allowed by my parents." She responded.

"Why are you not allowed?" I asked, killed by my own curiosity.

She sighed. "Are you going to keep asking me? You keep ignoring my questions, what should I do with my own work?"

"If you answer me why you're not allowed, I might start answering your questions."

She glared at me. "Yook Sungjae!"

I put my chin on the top of my hand and stared at her.

"W-why are you looking at me like that?" She asked.

"Kim Sohyun, class president, one of the students with highest grades in school... why don't you have friends? I see you're not shy. I thought you were weird but you are not. What's keeping you from making friends?" I asked.

Suddenly, I found myself being curious about her. This girl who spends most of her time in school alone and quiet.

"Are you really going to use those for your project? " She asked.

"Aish! Stop answering my question with another question, will you?"

She sighed and looked away. "I'm in school to study, not to make friends."

My jaw dropped. "Why don't I believe that?"

"You can believe whatever you want." She said and stood up. "That's it for today. I'll make you answer my questions next time."

I watched her walk away. "Kim Sohyun is sure hiding something..." I said to myself.

I was having lunch with my friends when Sohyun sat next to our table. "Sohyun-ah, come here." I called.

She just looked at me and started eating. Look at this girl... aigoo.

"Sohyun-ah-"

She took her phone and started talking to someone. She stood up and left her food.

"Peniel, are you thinking what I'm thinking?" Changsub asked him.

Peniel chuckled. I just know what they're planning to do.

"Are you seriously going to take her food?" I asked them.

"Yes, why?" Changsub asked.

I shook my head. "Don't do it."

"Ah, why?" Peniel asked.

"Just don't." I said in a serious tone.

"Alright..." Changsub said with a disappointed sigh.

I sighed and said, "Here, take mine. Don't touch her food..."

"Woah, Yook Sungjae..." Changsub looked at me with amusement in his eyes.

"What?" I asked, standing up.

"Where are you going?" Peniel asked.

"Somewhere." I replied.

I saw Sohyun again somewhere outside the cafeteria.

"Don't worry, mom. I won't come even though I really want to... no, I just... I would lose some points if I don't come... Okay..."

She said and hang up.

Is she talking about the mountain hiking? I decided to startle her from the back. "KIM SOHYUN!" I said jumping and saying her name out loud.
