Chapter 5

Sungjae's POV

"Almost there!" The teacher yelled.

Most students take a break from time to time to be able to breathe. If you have a heart condition, it's better if you didn't come. It's like having a death march to heaven.

"Teacher! I can't do it anymore!" Mira said.

I looked at her and she pouted at me. "Here, let me give you a-"

"Get on my back." Hyunsik said.

I was taken aback. I always forget she already has someone to do the things I used to do for her like carrying her on my back when she's tired of walking or when she's sick.

"Are you sure? It'll be hard." She said.

Hyunsik smiled. "It's okay."

I sighed and just wiped off the sweat on my face. I went on walking when I noticed something- Sohyun and Peniel are walking together before me.

I quickly ran to them but didn't approach.

I was even surprised when I heard them laughing and guess what... they're eating together!

Is this real? Kim Sohyun who said she doesn't want to be friends with anyone... aigoo.

I frowned and get between them. "What are you guys talking about?" I asked.

"Just random things." Peniel replied, then he smiled at her.

I pouted and took the chocolate bar he was eating. "What's wrong with you?" He asked.

"I'm hungry." I said.

"And you laughed at me for bringing lots of snacks in my backpack?" He replied.

I turned to Sohyun instead. "Sohyun-ah, aren't you tired?" I asked.

She looked at me with confusion. "No... I mean yes, but I can manage. Why?" She asked.

"Maybe he wants to give you a back ride." Peniel said grinning.

I widened my eyes at him and whispered, "Shut up!"

He chuckled and took another chocolate bar from his pocket.

I looked at Sohyun and she was just looking at me like she was trying to read me. "N-no! Do you think that's true? I'm just asking!" I said, suddenly feeling defensive.

"O-okay..." She said and left us behind.

"Are you crazy?!" I said to Peniel when she left.

"Are you getting jealous?" He asked.

"WHAT?! NO WAY!" I said a little loud.

He laughed even more. "Look how defensive you are!"

"I'm just telling the truth!"

After about an hour, we finally reached the location where the activities would be held.

The place is surprisingly beautiful than what we all expected. Instead of scary forest trees and dark surroundings I imagined, we see a very green grass and well planted trees covering only some areas. It's not totally dark and the sun still gets to you.

Everyone threw themselves on the green grass and lie there while catching their breaths.

I looked at my side and there's Sohyun smiling while looking at the clouds. I don't know how it brought smile on my face and I just... find everything beautiful for the first time.
