Chapter 13

Sungjae's POV

"Kim Sohyun. I'm her friend." I said when they asked me who I was going to visit. I hurried there as soon as they told me where it is.

"Honey, just please support Sohyun with her decision. Trust her. I know she wouldn't do something she's not sure of."

I was going to the room when I heard Sohyun's name.

"But that guy... I have to meet him first."

"I think he's going to come. I sent him a message and if he really cares about our Sohyun, he'll be here by now."

They seem like Sohyun's parents. I knocked and opened the door. I felt a bit nervous when they both looked at me but even more nervous when I saw Sohyun sleeping behind them.

I bowed to them. "I'm Sohyun's... boyfriend." I said nervously.

The person who seems to be his dad stood up. "You are?"

"Yes." I answered politely.

Her mom stood up as well. "Thank you for coming all the way here from your school. It's not that near." She said.

"No, I was with my family too." I replied.

There was an awkward silence between as all. Sohyun's dad is staring at me for so long like he sees through my soul.

"W-what happened to Sohyun?" I finally asked.

Her mom took a deep breath. "She had a sudden stomach pain. Yesterday morning she already threw up blood and her doctor said she needs to get a treatment as soon as possible but she's fine now. She just needs to rest for a few more days here." She said.

"The... the doctor is my aunt. I will ask her to do the besheshe could." I said.

"Really?!" Her dad suddenly asked with wide eyes.

"Ah... yes." I replied.

Her mom smiled. "It's a small world after all. Anyway, we'll leave you some time to stay with Sohyun. We'll go back home to rest, will that be okay?"

"Of course! I'll take care of her." I replied.

"BUT-" Her dad was about to say something but her mom cut it off.

"Honey, let's go." She said and they left the room.

I felt my knees weakened when they left. I took steps forward and sat beside Sohyun. I held her hand and laid my head on her bed.

"You weren't feeling well yesterday, huh? Bad girl, why didn't you just tell me the truth?" I asked, feeling so heavy inside. "I want to help you but how can I do that if you won't tell me whenever something bad happens to you? I... I just want to do something for you."

"I'm sorry."

I lift my head up when I heard her voice. "Sohyun-ah! You're awake!"

"But... you always do something for me." She said, "You make me happy." she added.

She looked pale and tired so I didn't argue. "Yah, rest more. Don't talk yet." I said.

"Did my mom tell you I'm here?" She asked.

I nodded. "Yes, I'm thankful she told me. I'd rather stay here with you."

"How was your meeting with your parents?" She asked.

I forced a smile and caressed her hair. "Let's talk about that next time."

She held my hand tightly. "Thank you for being here." She said before falling asleep again.
