"Aria....you can't die."
"I...I won't. Dr Brooke, she's working on a cure..."
"But it'll take weeks."
"I can make it....I can. I'm a tough bastard."
The two of us walked to Jun's house in silence. I wasn't sure what I felt about Aria, but I knew I liked her a lot, in some way or another. She couldn't die.
The town was half quarantined, but the rest was safe. For now. Aria had to stay in the quarantine, but she wanted to see me before she did.
"Rivio...I'm sorry."
"You'll make it."
She ran into the quarantine zone, tears streaming down her face. Jun ran over to me.
"Shit dude, I just heard. About Aria, I mean. You okay?"
"Yeah....yeah. I just need some time after. How's the cure coming along?"
"Brooke expects to finish it in one week or slightly longer."
"It takes three days for someone to die. We need to find another way!"
"Rivio.....what if Aria doesn't make it?"
"Shut up."
"I'm just sayin-"
"Shut. Up."
I walked away from him. I was in no mood for him to tell me what to do if she died.
I rested for ages, head racing with confusing thoughts.
The LR unit had released a virus into our town. They wanted to take over the country and restore the old ways of fighting. I wouldn't let that happen, so later on I gathered the guards.
"Find me the LR unit. Anything comes up, find me. We're going to get some payback."Two days had passed. I longed to know what Aria was feeling, how she was. The cure was two days away from being finished, but Aria only had one day left. However, a report from one of the guards detailed the location of the LR unit. They were hiding in an old shipwreck, not far away from town. I wielded a pistol, and headed to get some revenge, and hopefully some answers. I was going alone, as I wanted the guards to protect the town. At the shipwreck, I snuck through the ruins and eventually found the same masked woman who had tortured me before. Only this time she wasn't masked. I recognised her.
Maya Ropés.
The leader of the Feric's, Maya never truly went along with my plan of peace. Her people were happy with the change, but she wasn't. It made sense that she ran the LR unit, along with Marcus.
I snuck up behind her and pointed my weapon at the back of her head.
"Maya. Tell me how to cure the virus quickly." I harshly whispered.
"Mr Agani. I see you found your way back. What makes you think I'd tell you anything?"
"The fact I'm holding a gun to the back of your head."
"And I'm holding a knife."
She spun round and jammed a knife into my eye. I grimaced, but fired the pistol. It shattered her shin, and she collapsed in pain.
"Agh! Rivio! Fine! The cure is perfected with this formula!" She held a crumpled piece of paper.
The knife was still stuck in my eye, so I pulled it out after taking the formula.
"Goodbye, Maya."
I held her head up, placed my knife by her throat and sliced.
Blood covered the floor of the wreckage.I raced back to Letti, and insanely gave Brooke the formula. She told me Aria was in hospital, but she'd have the cure ready in a matter of minutes now.
When I went to check on Aria, I was incredibly shocked.
Her skin had turned bright white, and her eyes were colourless. She was breathing through tubes, and was wearing an oxygen mask.
"Aria-no. You can't die-I-love you." I guess I knew how I felt now.
Dr Brooke ran in after about ten minutes and injected her with what I presumed was the cure.
After recovering, Aria took off her mask and said to me,
"Rivio, you're a soppy bastard."
She winked at me and went to sleep. After a couple of days, things were looking up. Dr Brooke had distributed the cure, and Aria was still in hospital. She also told me she felt the same way about me. I just hoped Jun wouldn't find out. He'd be taking the piss out of me for God knows how long.
Although, a startling report hit me.
Marcus had escaped from prison.
