It was Friday, and the whole school was buzzing. We only had lessons until one PM, so they could close the school and get ready for the dance. Although the dance was starting at five, but I really didn't mind having less lessons.
"You know I cannot believe we were put in the dance committee. Like how did Mrs Pinkman say my face shouts dance?" I say furrowing my eye brows, with a humorous look and surprised tone.
"I don't know, maybe that big fat smile on your face! God I knew I shouldn't have walked with you and Nathan! I blame him for your smile!" Cassie says growling, mentally let out a scream.
I shake my head intensely. I was not going to let her believe that, or me for the matter. "It was Tobias's hilarious jokes." I nod firmly.
Cassie rolls her eyes. "Oh yeah, are you trying to convince me or yourself? Anyways Nathan's face when Tobias was talking to you was priceless." She laughs as though it was the funniest thing ever.
"What face?" I ask.
"You'd like to know wouldn't you." Cassie huffs.
I ignore her, and push through the crowd of girls that surrounded the hallways, the same old conversation shrieking out of each of their mouths. The Dance. They treated it like it was some massive thing.
"Why do we have to volunteer if we aren't going?" I sigh, walking into the hall, where the dance would be. Nathaniel and Tobias were already seated near a dozen more seniors.
"Oh my god Asi, Jacobs here." Cassie says sounding overwhelmed, she starts to become nervous. Jacob was seated with everyone, and he was looking directly at Cassie.
"See, told you this isn't so bad?" I say smiling as we walk forward to the group of students.
"Aasia, come over here."
My eyes shoot up. Both Nathaniel and Tobias shouted the same exact words at the same exact time, like they planned it. Everyone's eyes fall on me, even my own. I look down at my shoes, this was totatlly bad. They both look at each other, before awkwardly looking away.
"NO. She's sitting with me." Cassie says harshly to Nathaniel and Tobias. Tobias raises his eye brows, and gives a humorous look, whereas Nathaniel gives a hard stare and looks away.
"Thank you for that." I say to Cassie while biting my lips.
We both stand in the corner of the room, besides the stacked table with everyone else around us. And Nathaniel right beside me, at first I didn't realise his presence, but when I looked to my left, his smile caught my eye.
He purposely came near me, and when I looked his way, he assumed I caught him and he gave himself away by smiling giddly, and I couldn't help but return that smile.
Cute.
Tobias was still standing in the same position as before, and Jacob was near us aswell. Well near Cassie.
"Right you are the seniors! The seniors who do not want to attend the dance if I'm clear." Mrs Pinkman says.
I hear a series of mummers, and see people nodding to each other, I guess we all were the students who didn't want to go. Before we could do any decorating, we had to clear the hall from all the chairs and tables, and stage and put all the chairs and table in the far corner, filling up each table with drinks and snacks. Then filling up the main table with food and snacks and the punch. We had been doing this for an hour and bit.
"Right I'm going to put you all in groups of three. I'm just going to put call each three names on the list which are near each other, before anyone shouts at me for not being with their friends. It's in the order of your surnames, the first letters. Apart from the last three students I just added." Mrs Pinkman smiles at us pleasantly.
