You know it isn't Sunday, unless it's almost six and you have sat on your bed doing nothing. For the past few hours I had been scrolling through Instagram and twitter with my laptop by my side, and the copy of Nathaniel's favourite book on my other side, and my phone on my hand. Every ten minutes I will stop and read, or stop reading and go on the laptop.
I hadn't spoken to Nathaniel since Friday at the disco when he spilled the beans about his devious plan for us to be stuck in a room together. I mean, of course I wanted to talk to him. He was my friend after all, but there was this eager feeling inside me aching to see or talk to him. And I couldn't stop looking outside my window every half an hour.
Cassie and Jacob were all good now, so that meant I was alone and bored today, which I didn't mind because all I wanted to do was relax.
I pull myself up from my bed, which I had been sitting on for a long time. The room was a mess, clothes hanging out of the wardrobe - clothes that I have no intention in wearing again. All my bundle of books chucked in one corner beside my shoes and bags. It would take forever to clean everything out, because that would mean I'd have to chuck everything out.
"ASI" A voice yells from down stairs, that must be my brother.
I don't bother replying, I make ways to go down stairs. As soon as I open my door, a whiff of thick sweet smell intoxicates my mind - Waffles. Someone was cooking waffles; I follow the smell to the kitchen. "What's up bro?" I ask, walking around the kitchen, I stop at table, where there is a jar of cookies. Removing the lid, I take a cookie out.
"You hungry buddy?" Adam says while he opens the lid of the waffle maker, warm heat releases out of it, making my taste buds tickle.
"Mmmmm Waffles yes!" I say excitedly, I loved waffles. I walk over to him, and take a seat with a plate ready for me. Adam places one on the plate, with a spoonful of blue berries over it. "You're the best, has anyone ever told you that?" I say grinning, while putting a spoon full in my mouth.
He shrugs, "I can't say you're wrong there." He says sheepishly.
I roll my eyes, and let him appreciate himself for a bit. He did make me waffles after all, and they were honestly the best.
*PING*
I turn my head to my phone which was sitting near me. It was Nathaniel. And for someone my heart beat started increasing, I didn't know if it was butterflies, or scared or nervous. Why would I be either of them?
I swipe my phone to unlock it, and read his message.
NATHANIEL: "I need to talk you asap. Meet me at our spot?"
What? What did he need to talk to me about? Did I do something? Oh god, I must have done something that's why he needs to talk to me. A million and one thoughts rush back and forth in my mind, what could I have done?
ME: "Sure, give me 15 mins."
I reply, and jump off the seat. Leaving my waffle half eaten and make a run for the door.
"HEY, Asi where are you going, you haven't finished it?" Adam says in a low tone, almost sounding offending.
I bite my lips, when I realise I didn't have a sweet getaway, but Adam catches up me with before I could, I stand outside the door staring at him. "It taste great; I'm going to go out for a bit but make sure no one touches my plate." I say before shutting the door behind me.
Although I'm not completely sure of how to get there, I can always retrace my steps. I know I was almost there because I just walked through dozens of people dressed in surreal costumes, which meant I was in the carnival. I couldn't help but think about how he said 'our' spot. I kept looking at the message, I thought it was his spot? But now it's ours.
