My eyes fluttered open and I let out a groan of pain as it rocked through my body. What the hell happened? How long has it been since I blacked out? Hearing voices around me, I glanced around to see see Shikamaru's team with us as well as Lee passed out and being carried by Ino. Naruto's scream made me flinch and I looked to see him gazing around as well. Spotting Sasuke and Sakura sitting near each other, the feeling that I got off of Sasuke was one of power and craving. What the hell happened? Struggling to get up, I was just about to fall backwards when a body caught me from behind. Tilting my head up, I saw Shikamaru standing there looking slightly concerned while also annoyed.
"Eh? Sakura?" Naruto exclaimed from beside me before rushing forwards. "What happened to your hair?" Now that he mentioned it, her hair was now short and stopped below her chin. "By the way, why are you guys here?" He asked as Chouji, Shikamaru and I walked over to them all.
"Explaining it to you is too troublesome for me." Shikamaru sighed.
"Everyone helped us." Sakura smiled. As they talked, I went over to Sasuke and saw something on his shoulder. Pulling his top back, I saw a weird black marking as well as bite marks.
"You've been bitten? Did that weird girl give you that?" I gasped. "That feels powerful as well as dangerous Sasuke....."
"It's fine." He snapped, yanking himself away from me. I stumbled back from the force but managed to stop myself from falling again.
"Wake up, Lee!" I heard a girl shout. Looking over, I saw the girl with the pink top shaking Lee. What was her name?
"Tenten.... Why are you here?" I heard him mutter. So that was it!
"You're the fuzzy eyebrows guy!" Naruto grinned as he ran over.
"Naruto!" Sakura shouted with an annoyed look on her face. "Don't talk like that to Lee!" She punched Naruto which sent him flying to the side. Laughing, I realised that she no longer seemed weirded out by Lee. Something had happened here that I didn't know of...... "Lee.... Thank you." Sakura murmured, her voice softer now. "Thanks to you, my eyes are wide open now. I think I've become a little stronger.Walking off, I ignored their conversation and helped Naruto up again. He rubbed the back of his neck and laughed, though he seemed to sulk when he saw Sakura being nice to Lee. Sensing another presence, I looked up into a tree to see the other Hyuga boy. What was his name?.......... Oh! I knew this one! Neji! I'd heard it mentioned before.
A couple more days passed and we had made our way further through the area and stopped when we found a river. Fish were swimming around which encouraged the boys to see who could catch the most fish. While Sasuke and Naruto tried to catch some fish, Sakura sat with me. She was ready for Sasuke to light the fire using his fire technique, and we were ready to start roasting some fish! It had been four days so all of us were healed and felt stronger and refreshed, however our clothes looked dirty and ripped.
"The second exam began around 3 p.m. We only have 25 to 26 hours left." Sasuke started up the conversation.
"The other teams might have already finished. If that's the case....." Sakura trailed off. "It may be possible that there are no more Heaven scrolls."
"What do you mean, Sakura?" She began to explain herself but I ignored it all and began to dig into the fish as was Naruto. My stomach was empty and it needed some food!
".......... That Orochimaru guy burned our scroll of Heaven." I heard her mention. Wait. Did she just say Orochimaru?!
"Wait, what's this about Orochimaru?" I asked suddenly.
"He was the one using that snake girls body as a cover. He was actually our enemy and not the girl." Sakura explained. Orochimaru was in Konoha? Along with Kabuto? Something was wrong...... Had anyone else noticed? Getting up, I walked further away and decided to wash myself.
"I'll be back in a bit." I called back to them with a wave.Setting myself down by the river, I stayed still and sensed if anyone else was around me. Feeling only the life signs of my teammates, I relaxed and scooped up some water in my hands, splashing it onto my face and rubbing my skin with it as well. Feeling refreshed and cleaner now, I ran back to the others. Naruto held onto the scroll and was about to open it, when I dived forward and yanked it out of his hands at the same time that Kabuto appeared.
"Geez.... You're such a helpless guy." Kabuto sighed. "Those who break the rules will be forced into a situation where they must retire. In the previous exam, the scrolls were made so that those who opened the scroll will see a sleep-inducing inscription."
"In other words, it's a trap and a test of reliability." I murmured.
"So are you after the scroll of the heaven too?" Sasuke queried.
"No, I already have both." He smiled. "A lot happened, but I was headed for the tower to meet up with my teammates. Excuse me, now."
