The next day I woke up with a sense of excitement. Today was the day that we all started the tests that would determine if we were ready for becoming Chunins. We had all arranged to meet up at the classroom where the test would take place. When we arrived, Kakashi was stood outside the door.
"I see, so Sakura came as well. You can now officially register for the Chunin Exam." He informed us.
"What do you mean?" Sakura asked shocked.
"This exam can only be taken in teams of three, though it's four with Tsukiko here." Deciding to blank out the rest, I gazed out of the window with a smile.
".....kiko.... Tsukiko!" Someone exclaimed. Twisting round, I saw that only Kakashi and I were stood in the hall. Where did the others go? "They've already gone in." He sighed. "I want to say that I'm proud of you. You've settled in well here and I'm happy to see it." He mumbled out awkwardly while giving me a genuine smile beneath his mask.
"Thank you papa. I love Konoha and my team so I want to stay here forever!" I grinned, walking forward and pushing open the doors.
"What are you three taking this troublesome exam too?" A familiar voice asked. "Where's Tsukiko?"
"Here!" I giggled, jumping onto Shikamaru's back.
"Get off me, troublesome girl." He sighed lazily.
"Hey, it's the idiot trio." Naruto spoke up. As well as Ino, Shikamaru and Chouji, I saw our other friends as well.
"Yeah! Found you all!" Kiba exclaimed while strolling over to us, his hands in his pockets. Hinata and Shino walked up behind him and I saw a faint blush spread across Hinata's cheeks as she spotted Naruto. Kiba came up behind me and chucked an arm around my shoulders. "So I see that everyone is here.
"So you three made it too..... Geez......" Shikamaru muttered.
"I see, so all ten Genin rookies this year are going to take the exam. How far do you think we can get, Sasuke?" Kiba teased, smirking at him.
"You seem to be confident, Kiba." Sasuke smirked right back while Ino gave Kiba an irritated look.
"We trained like hell. We won't lose to you."
"Shut up. Putting Sasuke aside, I won't lose to you." Naruto said determinedly.
"Sorry Naruto, Kiba didn't mean it that way......" Hinata whispered shyly. Kiba looked over to Hinata's blushing face and seemed to get the same idea that I already had, while Shino suddenly stepped in front of us.
"What?" Chouji demanded. Looking down to the floor, I sweat dropped as we realised that he was only defending a bug that Chouji had almost stepped on.
"Hey, you guys." A guy with white hair called to us as he walked over. "You should quiet down a little. So you're the nine rookies that just graduated from the academy, correct?" He asked, studying us with his eyes that didn't seem trustworthy to me. He then spotted me and smirked. "And this is the tenth. I've heard about you, trained by your mother before running away here." He knew about me? How? Kiba sensed my unease and stepped in front of me while glaring at the guy. "You're all fooling around with those cute faces..... Geez, this isn't a field trip."
"Who are you to tell us that?!" Ino fired back at him, her blue eyes narrowing at him which her blonde hair bounced slightly as she turned to face him.
"I am Yakushi Kabuto. Look around you......" He replied. I tuned out the rest as my mind focused on his name. Kabuto..... Kabuto...... Where had I heard that name before?..... Thinking back on it, I came to realise that my mother had mentioned his name before when she talked about the new ninja that was helping out one of Konoha's enemies. He was Orochimaru's little pet. What was he doing here? Was he here to receive information about Konoha's ninjas? Or maybe information about Naruto and the fact that he was the jinchuriki.A determined shout coming from a grinning Naruto broke me out of my thoughts and I glanced up to see him pointing out towards all of the participants here.
"My name is Uzumaki Naruto! I'm not going to lose to any of you!" He bragged, looking rather confident in himself. Everyone stared at him shocked until I burst out laughing. This was why he was one of my closest friends. "Got that?!" Ino and Sakura began to have a go at each other while Sasuke smirked with a slight laugh at Naruto's behaviour.
" 'I'm not going to lose to any of you'? You talk big." Kiba commented. Sakura lunged forward and put Naruto in a choke hold as she began to lecture him. Pecking Kiba on the cheek, I saw a faint blush on his cheeks as he looked at me shocked. "What?" He mumbled shyly.
"Nothing." I grinned, however I tensed up when I felt someone coming towards where we stood. Glancing round, I saw a ninja from the Sound Village racing over towards Kabuto. Deciding not to intervene, I stayed back and watched on as he dodged the punch directed towards him. However, his glasses broke and he fell forward to his hands and knees and he began coughing. The sound waves hit him, not the actual punch.
"Quiet down! You punks!" A loud booming voice shouted out to everyone. Looking over, I grinned as I recognised Ibiki. "Sorry to keep you waiting. I am the examiner of the 1st test of the Chunin Selection Exam, Morino Ibiki. This is a good chance to say this..... You are not allowed to fight each other during the exam unless given permission by the examiners. Even if the permission is given, you are not allowed to kill the other. Pigs who go against me will fail immediately. Understood?" He informed us all with an intimidating glare. "Turn in your applications and collect a number. Paper tests will be handed out shortly."
"Paper test?!" Naruto exclaimed in horror. Oh this was going to be fun........
