Slowly, the couple gravitated towards the front door carefully watching as Olivia stood patiently next to the door. Around were boxes and a small pup, waging its tail, being at the strangers.
"Brian.. I.. I can explain."
"Don't, you're not supposed to be here. Leave or I will call the cops and get a restraining order." Brian angrily spoke up. Olivia's eyes started to swell up. Emilia but her lip and tugged on his arm.
"Just for tonight Brian. She's in the streets with no place to go. It's also getting cold. C'mon just tonight." she quietly said to him from behind.
He sighed and faced her, "She won't leave if we let her tonight. She'll do the same thing like last time." He rubbed his eyes in a distressed manner.
"She won't. I promise." Emilia's hands rubbed up and down his arms and swiftly left them and she walked to Olivia who watched the two friends in jealousy.
Emilia opened the door and picked up a box. She then kicked some shoes out of the way from the entrance and set the box there. "Just set the boxes here. I'll help you settle in but just for tonight, so I suggest you call someone to pick you up and help."
Olivia blink twice before she got up and started to help Emilia stack the boxes by the door. Brian, however, angrily went inside and put away his belongings. Both girls could hear him huff around his room as he put away his stuff.
"He hasn't changed." Emilia heard Olivia say under her breath smiling. She looked at the direction of where Brian was then back at Olivia as she stacked up the last box.
Emilia walked into Brian's kitchen and started to cook up some food for the three of them. She watched as Olivia walked around, judging Brian's new home. "So you guys now live together?" her obnoxious accent made Emilia grimace, she always hated Wales accent.
"No." She said to her. She wrapped potatoes in foil to bake in the oven.
"Oh please, you're prints are all over this place." She scoffed. Emilia's eyes rolled to the back of her head out of annoyance.
"Let me remind you who made Brian let you stay here. That same person can easily kick you out again," Emilia said putting the potatoes in the oven. "also, don't you have a phone call to make?" she sassily said.
Olivia shut her mouth and decided help her cutting up tomatoes. "I-I-I was just asking,"she said,"no need to get attitude."
"She has attitude when people are assholes, what's your excuse?" Brian said as he walked in. Emilia ignored them both, focusing on cooking some bacon strips.
"Why are you both so hostile towards me? Don't you see that I'm in need of help?!" Olivia said.
Brian slammed his hands on the counter that separated the kitchen and living room. "We're like this because you're here, Olivia! You're attitude isn't helping either!! Why?! Why did you even come here for? how do you know where I live?! Are you giving stalking me?!!"
Olivia flinched. She didn't know how to react. " I got kicked out from my new apartment. The bills got to much and I just.. I-"
"You got evicted. It's that why you're here? Do you want money? You come crawling back to me when you turn into a leach." He sneered, Emilia's eyes widened at Brian. She knew he hated her but not this much. She went up to him and put a hand on his skinny shoulder, pushing him back a little. "Brian, enough, can you please cut the bacon strips? please?"
He finally broke the gaze on Olivia and nodded. He sighed and did as he was told aware that his leaching ex was watching. Emilia bit her lip at shook her head at Olivia, "You can only stay here tonight. You can use the phone to call someone and I will personally help you if you need some queens. As long as you're out of our hair after tonight, I'll do anything to help."
Olivia nodded, not wanting to say the wrong thing. She got up and left, grabbing the phone on her way out. Emilia walked over to check on the potatoes in the oven. "You're amazing you know that," spoke up Brian, "so amazing that I sometimes hate it. You help out shit people knowing how horrible they are."
She shrugged, remembering how many times she heard that from her father. "Yea well, I don't want bad karma. Helping us helping and what good you give us what you get. She'll be out soon. Be patient." She said taking out the potatoes.
Brian kissed her forehead and gave a small smile. "You're great."
"So are you."
The next morning Emilia woke up to the smell of eggs being cooked. She looked to her left and saw Brian already awake writing in his journal. She watched him, forgetting about the smell, as he concentrated in writing.
Brian felt the gaze and looked up at his sleeping beauty. He smiled as she yawned and stretched, making every bone in her body crack. She sat up and hunched over, closing and opening her eyes. "Nice hair."
She smiled and showed him her third finger. He chuckled and put away his torn up journal. "Fancy some breakfast? Olivia is making it in, and I quote, 'appreciation for the hospitality', so we may as well just enjoy it."
"Is that so?" She asked to which he nodded, "well, let's take advantage." He did up and grabbed her hand, pulling her towards him. She giggled uncontrollably, happy that her close friend was back.
Once seated the awkward tension grew. Olivia watched as the couple of friends sent each other looks, wanting for the other to speak up. "I leave at three. M-my friend is uhh.... picking me up."
Brian took a bit of his food and nodded. "Great, we'll help carry your things out." Emilia stayed quiet picking at the food in front of her. She looked around trying to avoid Brian's gaze and realized the time presented on the clock about the sink.
"Oh carp, I have to get to work!!" She exclaimed standing up and shoving some good into her mouth as she put the dishes into the sink. Brian looked after her, ticked that she would lie to get out of the house. "I thought you had Fridays off!?" He yelled after her as she ran around the apartment gathering her belongings.
"I do! I have to tell you important news! I just gotta make sure I got my documents together and my boss instructions!" She came out of Brian's room. She had her hair done in two buns and some of Brian's makeup on. Olivia expected him to get mad at her for using his stuff like he had done before with her, but nothing negative came out. Brian watched her silently as she used his red lip stick. "I'll call you later and see if we can meet up, yea?"
Brian stood up and nodded. He walked her out of his apartment, carrying her bag while she hopped out the door trying to put her shoes on. "Make sure you call me-"
"When I get to work," she finished off for him. She smiled at him and grabbed her bag from his grasp, "I know Brian. Try not to lash out on her. Good luck!" They hugged each other, Brian's lips met her forehead and that seemed to brighten her smile. They let go and Emilia started to walk.
"Ok, darling, stay safe!" He called after her.
She turned and smiled at him. "You too, Brian." She said rolling her eyes.
"Have a good day!" He laughed out, knowing that he was making her feel eight again. He counted a bit until he heard her screech.
"BRIAN!"
