The voice echoes down to the tail of my spine, leaving me with this eerie chill. Parker is up ahead, slightly struggling with The Boss's uneven weight. They tip back and forth. Using his eyes, Parker motions me to help. I don't notice. My mind is occupied elsewhere. That voice...so familiar...yet so distant... I'm positive that I've heard the voice before. But I can't seem to find a face to match it.
A part of me begins to feel lost, lost in the galaxies of dark space. Im trying desperately to find answers, but only to have it slip delicately through my finger tips when I try to get close. I feel emptiness and pain. This feeling is worse than all my bones in my body breaking and my heart being ripped out. I wish I never came to The Society to find this terrible mess here. Images replay in my head. All the blood shed, the cruelty, the horrors, all spread out in the building like some horrid display...an exhibition. And those words...carved into those walls. "Solvo Omnis", Free All. Those words...why would someone carve that? Who or what caused The Society to be like this? So many questions shroud my head at once, instantly giving me a migraine. I place my hands in my head, shaking it, trying to rid of all my worries, fears, and horrors. One image strikes my heart the hardest. The image of The Boss lying there. The Boss is the closest thing I've ever had to a dad. He's the only person I truly care about. I would be lost if he were to be gone. Even though I don't show him my true feelings and thankfulness for his care, I really do love him like dad. It pained me to see him sprawled out in pain. At that time all I could think of was patching him up, saving him...
Suddenly, there's a huge turbulent sound coming from behind. It sounds like a collision of items. The air became very tense and so did our bodies. My whole body shakes as I await the next noise. My senses become alert and every hair on my body stands up, anticipating the worse to happen. Up ahead Parker and The Boss are both frozen in their places.
A faint rustle reaches my ears.
"Go!" I urgently whisper.
I can feel the danger creep up my skin as I stand there, frozen.
"Hurry!" I whisper even more urgently.
Parker nods quickly at my response and starts moving, dragging The Boss behind.
"Where do you think you're going?"cackles a sinister voice.
The cold, lifeless voice reaches my ears and I instantaneously turn around. Standing in front of me is a hooded figure in a black cloak with tidbits of red. Even the face is covered, the only things that are visible are the outlines of the nose and the strong, firm mouth. I suspect the figure is human. Two pale, bony, and fragile like, hands stick out from the cloak. The nails aren't overgrown and dirty like I suspect. They are well kept. The slender frame of the figure and the delicate hands indicate that it's a woman.
"Away from you." I spit in her cloaked face.
"Tsch, Tsch" she clicks as she haughtingly shakes a finger at me.
"Now, now, Lacey, let's not get nasty."
"Hah. Look whose talking. You're the only filthy, cold-hearted, vile creature here!"
"How dare you call me that you awful child!"
She raises her hands and her slender fingers trace gracefully in the air. Then her fingers flick open showing the palm of her hand. I notice it's branded with "inservio libertas"
"Ahh." I grunt as I grip my arm forcefully.
It burns like an inferno flame. I raise my hand at the pained area. My hand is stained in gushes of blood. I look towards my wound. Cut into the skin are those words... "Solvo Omnis"
My head shoots up to look at the figure. I can't visually see her facial expression, but it looks like she's amused. I look back down at my arm. Slowly and cautiously I lift my hand. I wipe the blood on my jeans as I scrutinize my arm. It's no longer bleeding. The skin is swollen and raised. It's a brand. The same one The Boss was given.
My eyes fill up with hatred and they bore into that figure. She was the one that tore up The Boss! She's the one that put him in excruciating pain! She needs to pay! It's her time to be in pain!
I open my mouth letting out an ear piercing scream full of vengeance. The figure lurches forward onto her side. Holding her stomach and twisting in pain. I focus my mind, trying to enter her body to break everyone of her bones. I hit something. It's like an indestructible wall. I bang on it barbarically, trying to get through. It's useless. It's a barrier...She's put up some type of force that's not allowing me through...Frustrated I let out another scream, even louder and more vicious than the one before.
She responds with a monstrous growl. I watch as her body shrivels up. Now she's holding her stomach and heart. Rolling on the ground, shaking in pain. Another monstrous growl erupts from her chest. Following is a mouthful of blood spluttering onto the ground.
I stand there smirking and enjoying every moment of her well deserved agony.
Another rustles vibrates in the shaft. About 100 feet off there's a figure hunching in the darkness.
"Haha," laughs the creature rolling on the floor. Underneath her cloak I can see her lip raise to snicker at me.
I look at her in disgust, wondering why she would be laughing at a time like this.
The figure that was submerged in the darkness swiftly appears at her side. Too swift. Her black cloak trails down her petite frame as she examines the one on the ground.
My nerves start to rattle inside of me. I can feel the immense surge of power that is near. That is my cue to run. I spin around and crawl hastily, not daring to look back.
"LACEY!" echoed the voice.
It's same familiar voice that I had heard earlier...
