Chapter 31
Before I can even reach them the ground above begins to travel in a current towards me. A current of earth? Female elder. I shoot a glance towards her sadistic smirk, she seems to be enjoying herself. I try to run around the mound of earth in front of me but it moves with my movements, not letting me surpass it. I try to move it, but the female elder has experience and age on me, making her force stronger than mine. Is this how she wants to play? Okay, well then, let's play. I turn my right palm towards her, hurling a tile straight at her, with her attention occupied on the tile i take two more tiles from behind the elders and hit both the other two males on the heads. They hit the ground, unconscious. She scowls angrily towards me.
"Lacey, I'll take care of her!" The Boss yells from behind.
I turn around and give an encouraging nod.
"She's strong! Be careful!" I yell advising him.
The female elder scoffs as she turns her attention to The Boss.
"Take down an old man? This shall be easy."
"Who you calling old, granny?" rebuked The Boss.
As she focuses her attention to him I begin to run towards Brody and Parker again. I stand a few feet away from them taking a few seconds to determine the best way to end this.
"Votre aide est nécessaire."
French? What's that mean? Brody's sending a message via telepathic in French...to...*gasp*...the others. This is going to get messy.
The doors of within the whole hallway slam open as a horde of Divames flood into the hallways. In a synchronized movement the mass extend their palms out, shaping the earth above into a huge current compiled of mud and dirt. It darts in a zig zag motion with an surprising agility, it's coming straight at me.
"Oh shit!" I curse in the shallows of my breath.
A current of earth slams into my side, brutally knocking me backwards. I extend my hands in effort to catch myself. I manage, but result in scratched up palms, burning as the grit enters them. I give them an unpleasant look and scan their numbers. There's too many, there is no way I can over power them. Again, they strike. I run and dodge the current of earth. The particles are so densely packed that if they shaped it into a pointy tip it would penetrate right through the body, like a stake. At the moment that thought breached my mind the current of earth begins to shape into a huge stake.. I stand my ground looking up at the pointed dagger like figure, ready to anticipate its action and move my body accordingly.
"Come on baby, show me what you got." I say as I signal my hand, tempting it to try to stake me.
The sharpened point faces me, waiting, hesitating. I look over to the Divames, staring at their hand movements. Their hand movements is key to the movement of the earthen dagger. The groups's hands snapped right, the dagger moves according.
"Ungh!" I grunt as I hit the floor, avoiding the dagger which was aiming for my right leg.
Left!
Quickly I roll over as it barely brushes past my skin. It was so close that I could feel it scraping by. That was too close! They seem to be aiming for my legs...they don't want to kill me, only injure me...take me out of the picture for now...
Right!
I desperately roll over, as it skims the edges of my clothes, ripping a few fragments off.
*gasp!*
The dagger is coming straight down towards me. I do a flip backwards, hoping to avoid it. As I'm flipping backwards, I see from the corner of my eye, the dagger swivels up and is coming full speed towards me.
"Oh no." I whisper as the dagger aims for my right thigh.
I smack the ground, hard, and then let out a brutish scream filled with utmost agony. My leg is throbbing to the beat of my quickened heart pace, pounding with ever pump. Warm liquid oozes out of my leg, soaking my clothes to a deep red crimson. A puddle of blood begins to form as my blood drips to the floor. Impulsively, I reach my hands down to my leg, putting pressure on it, to stop the mass amounts of blood being lost. I notice all the Divames are watching me, hungrily, wanting, desiring the taste of my blood in their mouth. They inhale a greedy scent and are sent in a spasmodic fury. Like a stampede of half-starved animals, they trample towards me, hungry to suck me dry.
I look over towards The Boss for aid but he's occupied. Guess this means me versus all of them. Theres no way possible for me to get rid of them all, but maybe I can stall time, or just fend off as best as I can. I'd rather die fighting for my death then simply waiting here for death to greet me. I place my right foot firmly on the ground, ready to rise, ignoring the blood trickling down my legs.
"Aah!" I scream a barbaric yell.
The leg I was trying to stand up on wobbles and collapses under me. The distraction of blood and the Divames coming at me didn't allow me to see that the dagger had shattered a few millimeters into my bone. Great! Now I have to heal my leg too? Are you fucking kidding me? Now I can't run either! Damnit! This is just my day. Just great! I don't have time to heal my leg! Might as well sit here and defend myself ! Thankfully my arms still work! I raise both my palms to face them, crushing bones with one and flinging the Divames onto walls with the other.
"Crack! Boom! Crack! Boom!"
The sound pattern of bones being crushed and Divames hitting the wall resonances throughout the whole hallway, but it doesn't stop them. The whole herd of them comes at me, licking their lips, waiting to quench their hungry thirst.
One of them lunges at me, barring its fangs, with my free leg I kick at it, managing to knock it back, but that doesn't stop them. The temptation of my blood splattered onto the ground is too great, and the state I am in is so vulnerable and helpless, I am greatly out numbered. Another one lunges at me, and another, and another. I kick, bone crush, throw them against the wall. I breathe heavily as I try to defend myself, but there are too many. With my hands and free leg occupied one manages to sink its pointed teeth into my already wounded leg. It rears back after a taste of blood, making a grimacing face.
"Brothers! What they say is true! This blood is no good! Her blood tastes partly Divames! I can taste it in my mouth, the vile bitterness! Calm yourselves! Leave her! There are two other humans in our presence!"
Oh no, The Boss and Parker!
