We stayed on that hill until the hints of dewy morning began to peek through the horizon. Spending time with Brody makes me see him as a real person and not the monster that use to terrify me. His body is warm; his heart beats quicker next to me, and his kisses are so deliciously sweet. He'd be a regular boy to me if it weren't for the telepathy, abilities, and the fact that he's holding back the demon inside of him. And I know that if I bonded with him I could make all that go away...but I'd also be throwing a part of my life away too. I trained so excruciatingly hard for my whole life in order to find my mom. Now I have 5 years to do it before I have a baby. I came to Paris in order to do that, not cuddle around with Brody.
"Is everything okay Lacey?" He kisses the furrow on my brows. "You seem to be thinking hard about something."
"Oh...couldn't you have just taken a look into my head?
"I could have, but I'd like to respect your privacy. Plus, you're probably more familiar with my presence now to detect me peeking into your head."
"Um I was just wondering what it means to be Divames."
"Why the sudden interest?" He raises one eyebrow not entirely convinced.
"I've come to accept who I am and I want to know more about myself. I am after all, quite a unique species."
"Well to be honest, Halflings aren't that uncommon. It's looked down upon but it still happens. They need blood for food like Pure Bloods, but don't need to find their life mate to suppress the demon inside."
"I don't drink blood to survive."
"I can't say for certain about your species, but I speculate it's probably because you have full supernatural blood in you. Halflings are made of half supernatural half mundane blood, but if you didn't have a Divames farther, you would still have supernatural blood in you due to your mother. And seeing that you're a Polynatural, a rarity of your own species, I'm sure that compensates for another reason. You truly are something huh."
"Does this mean I get all the abilities Divames have?"
"Hmm, I'm not sure. Usually Halflings have telepathy and can poorly execute the abilities. But seeing as you already have abilities...well, why don't we put the theory to test. Here, try to create a small mound of earth. Just think about the earth as another appendage of your body and use your mind to form it into the shape you want."
Brody easily demonstrates to me what should be done.
After several trials, I still can't seem to do it.
"Hmm, maybe that's not your forte. Let's try healing next."
"I know that I don't naturally heal like you do."
"We can test out your saliva."
Brody brings my finger to his mouth and protrudes his fangs; making a small incision along my finger. He then clears his throat and distances himself from the warm blood oozing out of the small cut.
"Lick the cut." He commands with his face turned the other way.
I obediently lick my cut. Nothing happens. The blood continues to trickle down my finger.
"Nothing happened Brody."
He faces me this time and brings my finger to his tongue. Very gently and sensually, he glides his tongue along my finger, licking up every drip of blood. He reaches the incision and slows down his pace, lavishly dragging his tongue along the cut. Brody finishes with a soft moan like sigh, obviously having enjoyed himself.
I examine my finger and there is no cut. A small chill runs down my spine. The feeling of Brody's tongue along my finger was a little bit too sexy.
