Where am I? It’s so dark… I think I see something in the distance. Running, I feel like my legs are about to fall off my body. When I pass through the light I end up in a forest. Now how do I get out of here?

I hear an echo from the distance. It sounds like screaming. Again, I sprint toward the unbearable sound. I search, not being able to find the source. Finally, I arrive to where the pain-filled calls come from. There was a building ablaze. The building looked enormous from my point of view. It looked like an exact replica of my old apartment. There were many police officers and firefighters everywhere. “Is that me?” I said aloud. Nobody heard me. A stranger was holding me in his arms, my body. I couldn’t see who it was because his face was covered in blackness. Only a few features were discernible. He had vivid brown eyes and golden brown hair. I walk a little closer so that I could hear what they were saying.

“She seems to be unconscious,” said the police officer.

“Yeah. Other than that she should be fine, without having to go to the hospital,” the stranger said. His voice was so beautifully soft, like silk.

“I guess so. She just needs some rest and she’ll be fine, but we don’t want to take any chances. Thank you for rescuing Elizabeth.”

“I’m just glad she’s safe. Well, I should go. Don’t want to worry my parents.”

“All right then, but-” the officer stopped.

He was already gone when the police officer took me out of his arms.

“Strict parents probably,” the officer wondered.

In a blur, my whole dream faded.

I woke up tangled in my bed sheets, sweating because of my memory. It felt like my dream was choking me while I tried to sleep. The only thing I’m positive of is that I never met a man with chocolate brown eyes and golden brown hair like that. I climb out of my bed and look in the mirror in front of me. Why was my hair all tangled and filled with dirt? I look at my arms and legs. They were all scratched. My hands were covered in blood, like from my dreams before. What happened? Was I sleep walking? Maybe…sleep killing. My body felt cold while my head felt hot. I immediately went to the shower and put the water to warm. When I was done dressing, I headed down stairs.

“Hey, what’s up?” Aunt Laurie says.

Since my parents passed, my aunt agreed to take care of me. She’s a little too young to be able to raise me right, though.

“Hi.”

“What’s wrong? Oh, you had that dream again?” she asks.

I just nod, not feeling like talking with the big knot in my throat.

“Well, I made you some pancakes?”

“Not hungry.”

“Oh.”

“Sorry. I’m going to be late for school. Bye.”

“Okay.”

Bag and keys in hand, I head for the door. I get in the car and go to school.

When I got to Summer Set High, I felt so nervous that I might vomit. I tried to find my locker, but I had a little trouble.

“Hi,” said a light, fluttery voice.

She had brown, wavy locks of hair dangle down her fragile body. She was very small for a student in high school.

“Um…hi?”
