They were all waiting in the living room. Everybody Elizabeth knew was there. Besides her aunt, who knew nothing about this.
“Where could they be?” Julia said impatiently.
“Be quiet. They will be here,” Rose reassured her.
A.J. was staring at Haley with recognition and curiosity.
“So you’re a shapeshifter?” Haley asked Julia.
“Yeah, you got a problem with that?”
“No. I just never met one before. What animal do you shift into? Or are you those shapeshifters that can shift into any animal?” Haley insisted.
“Any animal. Well, until I’m seventeen.”
“Can you please stop talking? I think I can feel them,” Adelle said.
They both shut up.
Everybody was on edge. They thought that Violetta had killed Elizabeth. They were very nervous.
Dawson came in with Elizabeth in his arms. Rose immediately ran up to see if she was okay.
“I think she’s dead” Dawson said sadly.
“That can’t be true,” Haley said. Her eyes were watering.
“It might be. Violetta was feeding on her. She might have tried to turn her into a vampire,” Dawson said in disgust.
“How? She’s a Soul Killer. Right?” Ainsley came and asked.
“I was wondering the same thing, but Violetta’s lips were stained red. Soul Killer’s blood isn’t red. It’s silver,” Dawson said.
“Maybe she was half?” Adelle asked.
“This is crazy,” Julia said.
“Let’s go and put her where she can rest,” Rose said gently.
They all rushed up to an empty room she could rest in. They laid her gently down. Dawson snarled at the two little marks on her neck. They were healing, but you could still see them.
“So what now? Wait and see if she wakes up?” A.J. asked. There was concern in her eyes.
“We wait to see if she wakes up. People who exchanged blood and die usually wake up in a week, maybe less,” Haley said.
“It sounds so long though,” Adelle said.
“Well, we just have to wait. I don’t want to take any chances,” Dawson said. His face looked haggard.
“She looks so human...” Ainsley said.
“It’s because the vampire blood killed the Soul Killer half and is now killing the human part of her,” Haley explained.
“How do you know?” Adelle asked.
“I might have snooped around in Violetta’s library. I found out a lot about her and about vampires,” Haley said and smiled.
Rose turned to Dawson and said, “What are we going to do about her aunt? She is going to be suspicious if Elizabeth doesn’t go back home.”
“We can go talk to her and say she wanted to go on vacation with your family. She would never trust Elizabeth with me,” Dawson said.
“Okay,” Rose said.
Are you sure you can handle my sister? Haley sent.
Dawson looked at her and sent, I am positive. She will always be mine.
You know when she wakes up she’s going to want to look for her sister. The one that’s still human.
I know, and we’ll find her. I want Elizabeth to be happy.
She already is. She’ll be happier with both her sisters at her side though.
I know.
He looked away. He had so many things to do. So many weights on his shoulders. It will be worth it though. Being with Elizabeth forever...I would pay any price, he thought.
Any price at all.
