On a Wednesday morning, I rush through my morning procedure and sprint down the stairs. When I got down, I saw that Aunt Laurie wasn’t there. She must’ve left early. I shove the food down my throat and grabbed my belongings. Rushing, I almost didn’t see the orchids that overtook my living room. First roses and now this? They were really adorable though... I take the most brilliant one and head to school.

“They match your eyes. I think they’re gorgeous,” Dawson says, while comparing my eyes with the blue and white orchid I took this morning.

“Two beautiful sapphires and crystalline white diamonds,” He said while caressing my face.

I have noticed that my eyes were a vivid sapphire with a thin white line around my pupil. It’s strange, to me, to have them like that. Then again, I’m not human, so does it matter?

“Thanks.” I smile and blush.

He laughs at the sudden pink in my sun browned cheeks. His laugh is so wonderful to hear.

I think it’s been a year since I first came to Summer Set. It’s been kind of fun so far and Dawson and I are really close now. Each day I would get millions of flowers, but now they appear in my room. On Monday Dawson gives me Larkspurs, on Tuesday there are red roses, Wednesday there are Orchids, on Thursday there are Pansies (which I think is adorable), and finally, on Friday there are Lilacs. I’m still baffled at how he can buy so many.

I’m driving to school when I pass the bus stop and there’s a girl who I’m sure I’ve never seen before. She has bright purple hair, with thin streaks of black, a very light tan with golden freckles all around herself, and eyes that were a deep green with flecks of black, with a white around her pupils that shines just like Dawson’s and mine. Is she what we are? Can’t be, Dawson would have told me, right? Well, she’s as gorgeous as he is.

I get to school to see his face troubled and twisted in anger. It changes to a forced smile when he sees me pulling into my usual spot. He quickly appeared to my side when I got out of my car.

“Hey Elizabeth,” he says, trying to focus his anxious look on me but failing.

“Hey. Who’s the girl with purple hair?” I ask.

His eyes stopped searching and locked onto my gaze. They were so filled with hatred and disgust that it made me cringe. His jaw clenched and unclenched many times. I have never seen him act so badly before. The only time he acted close to this was the first day of school.

“Never mind,” I mumbled.

His jaw went slightly slack and his face turned more relaxed. He looked at me with compassion in his gaze.

“I’m sorry for my behavior. I shouldn’t have acted like that. It’s just...” He trails off, hoping I wouldn’t notice he said that.

“It’s just what?” I ask.

This girl, somehow, must be connected to Dawson. I just have to find out how.

“Her name is Violetta. She was one of my friends from...before,” he said cautiously, seeing my reaction.

I stared at him blankly. It felt like something was very obvious here, but I just couldn’t figure it out. I was still really confused when we both headed for our homeroom.

I couldn’t really remember what happened this morning. There was a new student though. His name was Jason Descartes. His sandy hair almost covered his brown eyes. Something about him was very...familiar. Almost like he was a lost loved one. But I love Dawson, so I didn’t ever pay attention to him.
