We both stared at the figure in the darkness. I couldn’t see most of his features, but I could see muddy eyes and pale skin. At first I thought it was Dawson, because of the eyes, but it wasn’t him. Josh stepped forward, holding Adelle by the neck. She looked dead, but I knew she wasn’t. Rose didn’t think so though.

“What did you do with her? You killed her!” She screamed.

I tensed for some fighting. It never happened, though. Rose kept going on and on. He grimaced. He ran towards her with the red, crystalized bat. She didn’t realize what was happening, until the last minute. She was only a second too late to dodge the attack. She fainted on the floor, her wings folding around her, like a blanket. I ran towards him, my claws back again, but I was late. I should have dodged the attack, but didn’t. I thought I was going to get to him before he could hit me. Everything went black.

Images kept going through my head. They were really strange. I could have sworn I saw an elaborate mask involved. But every time I saw the strange sceneries and people, all I saw were those same depthless brown eyes. The type of eyes you just wanted to lose yourself in. They were staring at me the whole time. The thing about those eyes though, was that I kept seeing them turn malicious. Evil black swirls surrounded them. Lust, greed, every sin you could think of was reflected through those eyes. Love? Never true.

I woke up dazed. My head whipped around, to see my surroundings. I was in a blank room. It was so plain and boring, it hurt my head. I felt a slight vibration behind me. I closed my eyes so I could see what was behind me. They were wings!

“Rose! Are you okay?” I asked panicked and scared.

“Yeah, but I feel kinda dizzy...” She mumbled.

“Rose? Rose!” I said with anxiety.

“Don’t worry. I’m okay,” she said in a faint voice.

“Okay... Where are we?”

“I don’t know.”

“Well, how can we get out?”

“I think the roof is made of glass, but I can’t see for sure. Can you try to see?” She asked.

I tried to tilt my head to the ceiling, but couldn’t because of Rose’s wings.

“Um, Rose? Could you make your wings disappear? It’s just, I can’t really see because of them.”

“Oh, okay.”

I felt her wings start to get smaller and smaller. The ropes were loosening and I slipped out. I stared up. She was right, the ceiling was made of glass. She was standing next to me, her wings fully grown again. I looked around.

Where could the door be? Maybe there was a secret switch or something. I closed my eyes and started to search in the walls for little nooks and crannies. I saw a little knob. My eyes fluttered open and stared at where the knob was.

“We have to save Adelle,” I said confidently.

“How?”

“I already found a hidden knob in the wall. I could see through the walls in the hallway and see where she is.”

“Okay, but before we do it, I need to tell you something,” she said with caution.

“We don’t have enough time for that. We have to save Adelle.”

“It’ll be really quick. It’s about what you are.”

I froze. Dawson said he was going to tell me. I didn’t want to hear it from him anymore. He brought me pain, joy and more pain. I turned to face her.
