She shoots me an atrocious smile. It sent a cold chill into my bones. She reaches for my arm, but I dodge it very quickly. I’ve been learning much during the few months that Dawson and I have been training for. This is the time I try to kill her. The time I will succeed in killing her.
I run towards the drawer that had the stake. She forgot that there aren’t only two witches, but four. I got to enchant the stake though.
“You really think that thing will kill me?” Violetta said and connected her fist hard into my stomach.
I held back my scream. The last thing I wanted to happen was to have Dawson come and get me. He might get hurt. I can’t lose him. Anyway, this really isn’t any of his business. I have to kill her. Dawson can’t get involved.
“I really do,” I said and thrusted it toward her.
I missed her chest completely! I aimed straight for it though. How could I have missed?
I stared at her in disbelief. Then, I shook my head and went for her again. At the last minute, I turn and leap out the window.
Where are you going? Haley sent in panic.
Leading her to a place where I can kill her without Dawson finding out.
You can’t! She will be able to cast any spell she wants on you if you leave this house! She cried.
I have to try!
I’ll come too!
No! You stay and make sure Dawson doesn’t follow.
Please be careful.
I shut her out of my mind and ran as fast as I could. I couldn’t get emotional now. Her last words rang in my head.
I could feel Violetta’s energy following me. She kept going in different directions though. I finally entered the clearing, where I would burn her corpse. I turned around to face her.
“So this is it, huh?” I said.
“Yes. This is the day I kill you and take your so called ‘love,’” She said and sneered.
I gulp and say, “Or, it could be the day I kill you and free the souls still captive in you.”
She took a small step forward.
“I would like to see you try.” She ran toward me in full blast.
I could feel my back thud hard against the tree she flung me at. Pain shot up and down my spine for a few minutes. I could hardly move. I tried to look up at her.
She was standing over me, with the ruby spear in her hand. She angled it to my shoulder and pushed it through my bone. I screeched in pain. I could feel the tiny shards of broken bone stick to my muscles.
When she retrieved it, the wound started to heal. I got up and ran to the other side of the clearing. She beat me there by a nanosecond. I took the wooden stake and plunged it through her stomach. She screamed and fell to the ground. I ripped the stake out of her and hit her hard in the head. Her eyes rolled to the back of her head and she fainted. I knew I would only have a few minutes before she would wake up again.
I felt another presence near by. I didn’t recognize it, though. I ripped a tree branch and did a quick enchantment on it. I sharpened the broken end with my sharp claws that had formed.
“Come out coward!” I yelled.
Josh came out and ran at me. I quickly lashed the branch at him and he fell to the ground. A small whimper came from his mouth. I quickly turned to Violetta, but she was gone. I stretched my mind out to find her energy. Something grabbed my arms and hooked them to my back. I struggled to get free from Josh’s grip, but he was too strong.
