"She doesn't really love him, I can tell by the way she says it."
I put my knees up on the bench and hugged them.
It was the perfect day to come to the park. The weather was just right, knowing that summer was threatening to come in right around the corner with only a month away.
"How does she say it?"
I ran my fingers through my now shoulder length brown curly hair and sighed.
"She takes that word too seriously, she feels way too strong about those words to just be throwing them around all willy-nilly like that. I just don't feel like she really loves him."
I shouldn't be talking to him about this but he's the only one I have right now, I mean beside the girls of course.
He sighed and tilted my chin up with his finger to make me face him. God, he is so beautiful.
"I know you're worried about her but you have to let her make her own mistakes and let her learn from them, you're only her best friend therefore she'll listen to you but she won't listen to you and do whatever she wants at the same time, you get me?"
I couldn't help but crack a smile because he always knows just the right things to say to make me feel better.
"Yeah, you're right. But I just want to be there to protect her and help her like I should, we're like sisters man. I don't know what i'd do if anything ever happened to her." Tears stung my eyes as a lump formed in my throat from just thinking about it. I can't lose her, not anytime soon anyway.
"Don't talk like that boo, she'll be fine. She's graduating in a month and will soon be moving on to bigger and better things, she's grown now Ki, she's not that little kid you met anymore." He paused for a minute to get a good look at me. "Neither are you, you guys are growing up now, there's going to be obstacles along the way, you just have to figure out how you're going to deal with them."
I nodded my headed indicating that I was agreeing with him, he's right, we're graduating soon. We're going to be college freshmen in a couple of months.
"You're right, absolutely right. Thank you Craig, you always know what to say to keep me sane." I leaned over and hugged him, giving him a peck on the cheek.
He gave me that sincere smile that he always give and started blushing a bit.
"Craig Crippen Jr. Are you blushing," I asked as I put my hand on my chest and batted my eyes.
"Yeah right, you wish you could make me glow." He said.
I moved to where we were now face to face with only a little space between us and looked him dead in the eyes, "Oh trust, I can make you glow like it's nobody's business." I bit my lip, teasing him a little bit and got off the bench running like I stole something.
I was getting away until I started laughing hard and suddenly felt two strong arms wrap around my waist, pick me up, and spin me around.
"Let me go Craig," I tried to yell but my stomach was hurting so much from laughter.
After he put me down he stared at me with lust filled eyes, "I'm warning you, don't tease me like that unless you're willing to feel some pain, the good kind at least." He licked his lips and bit at me.
I stood there frozen in place from what he just did, debating if I should ever tease him again, i'm not ready for it yet!
he sat on the blanket that we brought from his house and stared at me like I was a piece of meat.
"What, why are you staring at me like that, you're making me uncomfortable." I laughed nervously.
"No reason, you're cute that's all." He replied.
I felt the warm blood rush to my cheeks that were now burning from how sweet he's being.
"Stop it, you're making me blush. Thugs don't blush." I chuckled at myself for that joke.
He started laughing at the joke and then he took my hand and pulled me towards him, "Come here, I want to talk to you." He licked his lips and looked at me with those glistening dark brown orbs.
Damn, those eyes and lips can put me in a trance.
"No, that grass is uncomfortable and it hurts my butt." Within the next five seconds Craig was laying down and I was sitting on top of him, straddling him.
"Is this better," He asked.
"You think you real smooth huh," I asked smiling like an idiot.
"Smooth enough for you." He sang in melodic voice.
Ugh, he knows that I love when he sings to me. "Stop it, you know that makes me blush mad hard." I replied.
"I know that it makes you happy boo, so why you gotta front," He asked. "You should let me love you, let me be the one to give you everything you want and need." He began singing again.
I just sat there laughing as he tried to spit game, "You're so cute, I love it," I said. "I'll be even cuter, if I were with you." He replied.
All the doubt in my mind washed away as soon as he said those words. No doubt that Craig wants to be with me.
My heart began to race and my head filled with unanswered questions, is he trying to do what I think he's doing?
"Kiara, I promise you won't regret being with me, I can treat you better than these half ass niggas out here. Just let me prove how real my feelings are." He grabbed my hand and intertwined it with his.
"I don't know Craig, i've been hurt too many tim-"
"If I told you that a flower bloomed in a dark room would you trust it," he asked. "I would. We're the dark room and our relationship is the flower that will bloom even on the darkest days. Tell me you trust me." He begged.
"I do bu-"
"But what, huh. You think i'll take your heart and run with it, only if you'll run with mine. Listen just go on two dates with me then I can show you better than I can tell you."
"Two dates? Why two," I was beyond confused.
He sighed and pulled me off of him, and setting me down carefully. He then got up and walked over to a basket that he had brought also taking out a little container and walking back to me. He pulled me back on top of him and started speaking.
"The first date will be an amazing night spent with me and you, talking about you and getting to really know YOU. And the other date will consists of dressing up, lots of pictures, and having an amazing time with the people you love."
He paused and picked up the little square container that held inside a beautiful Lily. A corsage.. My eyes widened and my mouth fell open into a shape of an 'O' is he really doing this?
"Kiara Wilson, will you go to prom with me?"
I was not expecting this from a typical day of talking and sitting at a park.
It was just so beautiful and such perfect timing, the sun was setting, we were far away from everyone in a field of lovely white daisies, it felt like a cliché movie. It was perfect.
I was lost at words to say so I leaned down and kissed his cheek then his forehead.
"Yes, I'll go to prom with you Craig."
