Previously on How the Lab Rats Fell:
Chase was teaching his team of amazing brainiacs when the text came. It was from Douglas.
"Meet me now. We need to talk. This is more serious than you think."
---
An hour or so after I sent the text, everyone showed up. Adam, Bree, and Chase were easy to get, however, Leo had to dodge Tasha, and Garrett, Fern, and Heather had to finish school.
"Listen," I said, "Donnie is at a Davenport Industries lab to figure out how to permanently remove the students' Triton Apps. But that doesn't mean we have a ton of time."
"So what was so important that you needed to drag me out of my amazing life for?" Garrett asked.
"First issue: Krane," Douglas said.
"Well what was he supposed to be, dead?" Fern asked.
"Exactly," Bree said, "We blasted him into the sky."
"Hold up!" Leo said, "Krane came back?" We nodded. " Oh for crying out loud! That guy won't quit!"
"Why is it called Halloween?" Adam asked, "Why not Awesomeween?"
"That's it!" Heather exclaimed, "Adam, you're a genius!"
"I wouldn't go that far," Chase said.
"People started dressing up for Halloween to scare of evil spirits," Garrett recited.
"And your lame decorations must not have been enough to keep the dead away!" Fern finished.
"Solution: Get better Halloween decorations," I decided, "Next, you three," I said, pointing to Fern, Garrett, and Heather.
"What did we do this time?" Garrett moaned.
"Be heroes," I said, "Twice."
"Yes! The streak had ended!" Garrett exclaimed.
"What streak?" Adam asked.
"For five years, eight months, six hours, and sixteen seconds, every time I was pointed at, it was for a bad reason," Garrett explained. Everyone looked at him weirdly. Even Chase.
"Well, don't judge," he muttered.
"Anyway," I continued, "If you could do all of that without bionics, imagine what you could do with them!"
"Glitch and blow up the world?" Fern asked.
"No," I said, "You guys are smart. You remind me of myself when I was young."
"But minus the Dr. Evil part, right?" Leo asked.
"Anyway," I continued, ignoring Leo's comment, "I think you can figure out how to successfully put bionics in yourselves without genetic engineering or amputation needed."
"Well okay!" Heather said with enthusiasm, "Let's do this Dougie!"
"I can help you guys too," Chase suggested.
"About you," Garrett said, butting me from my position of honor, "How come you're not like, in jail for ransacking, like, every jewelry shop in Mission Creek?!"
"Because the supreme court took their time giving us a warrant," said a voice from behind us. We whirled around to see ten government agents. Then we saw their leader. It was yours truly.
Agent Graham.
