It's time...

We walked into the house seeing everyone staring at us, me more than them.

We had just came from making grocery. Tonight we all planned on having a sea food brunch so I went out to grab snow crabs, shrimp, lobster, oysters, tilapia and we planned on ordering shrimp fried rice once the food was almost ready.

"What's wrong? Why is everyone looking at me crazy?" I asked while sitting the food on the kitchen counter as Ang and Nessa helped.

"It's time Alexis" mister Simmons said as he walked towards me. Immediately my heart sank to the pit of my stomach.

"Time? Time for what?" I asked starring straight at Daniel. I then looked around to see mommy no where in sight.

"Where's my mom?" I asked as my voice trembled.

"Babe, it's time." Danny said as he walked towards me. I gave him a stern look.

"Daniel, where is mommy?"

"She's up stairs in her room, she's been asking for you." He said as his voice began to crack.

I broke from his grip racing upstairs busting into mommy's room. She was tucked in her bed with the nurse standing over her.

"What are you doing here? I thought you only came once a week, you were just here two days ago." I asked slowly walking towards her.

"Alexis please sit, we must talk."

"Talk about what? "

"Alexis your mom has gotten worse, she doesn't have long at all." She said killing my spirit.

"What do you mean she's gotten worse? She was just doing great this whole week!" I said looking at my mom who was sleeping.

"Alexis have you started planning her funeral?" She asked. I nearly slapped this lady in her mouth.

"What!? :-\ no, and I'm not going to because she's doing fine! This-this is just a phase it'll pass!" I said trying to convince myself.

" Ms.Alexis I'm sorry to say this, but your mom might not make it through the week, it'll be a miracle if she makes it to see tomorrow. I know this must hurt but you have to think forward with her burial and homegoing."

"Get out!" I said as I pointed towards the door.

"But Ms.Ale-"

"I said get out!!!" I yelled. She walked across the room and out the door.

As solid as I was, only this was breaking me. I climbed into bed with mommy after putting on a pair of her cozy pajamas. I inhaled her scent as I laid next to her in silence.

"Knock, knock" Daniel whispered as he stood in the doorway.

"Come in Danny."

"How are you?"

"I'm ok I think." I said as tears formed in my eyes. I couldn't dare let them fall.

"No you're not Alexis, don't lie. Just say it!"

I got out of the bed walking out of the room with him on my heels. I walked into an unoccupied room pushing the door closed behind me but Daniel caught it before it could shut.

He walked in closing the door shut locking it.

I stood in the middle off the floor with my hands gripping my scalp.

"Say it Alexis!" Danny said slightly raising his voice. I chuckled a bit.

"Daniel please not no-"

"Say it Alexis!"

"Gosh, okaaay! I'm not ok! There, are you happy now!? I'm not ok, I am not ok!!!" I yelled as my body got limp. Danny caught me before I could hit the floor.

"Why!? Why God, whyyyy!? Baby it hurts!!!" Alexis yelled into ny chest as she cried.

I had cradled her in my arms as best as I could. I didn't respond I just let her vent.

After a few minutes there was a small knock at the door. Alexis knew who it was already so she pulled herself together wiping her face as best as she could.

"Who is it?" I asked. The door opened slightly as Miley peeked her head in.

"Hey Miles" Lexi said forcing a smile.

"Are you ok Lexi?" She asked using her softest voice ever.

"Yes I'm ok baby, thank you."

"Can I give you a hug?"

"Sure" Miley walked over to us giving wrapping her arms around Lexis neck.

"You're going to be just fine Lexis" she said kissing her cheek. "And Gramm will be just fine too. Heaven is pwetty and it's really fluffy and bright and Jesus is very handsome!" She said catching us both off guard.

Alexis just smiled as tears began to fall once again.

"Thank you Miley bear."

"You welcomes! Now I have to go to Gramm room and talk to her." She said leaving out the door.

"Jesus is handsome?" Lexi asked looking at me.

"Don't look at me! She has a mind of her own!" I said causing us both to laugh.

"Gosh I'm tired Danny" she a said through a yawn.

"How bout you go join Miles and your mom in bed. I'll see you when you wake up" I said helping he off the floor.

"Ok"

We both walked down to Joyce's room only to see the whole family scattered on the let out couch that sat by the window and home made pallets on the floor.

"Hey guys, care to join?" Russy asked looking up from the television.

"Uh, sure" I said as I grabbed the blanket and pillow out of his hand.

Alexis got into bed with her mom and Miley. We all sat up watching tv as everyone started to doze off one by one. After everyone was asleep I grabbed Lexis camera setting it up in the doorway putting it in an angle so that all of us could fit. I set it on a timer to capture one photo. I ran to my spot lying down as I heard the small flash go off I got back up and put her camera back in its rightful place then fell asleep.
