Dean POV

When we arrive at Lucy's location, I'm knocking on the door before anyone else even makes it to the entryway. "Lucy!" I yell, "Open the door!"

When there is no answer, I get Sam to kick the door open. What we find inside is instantly mortifying.

Lucy is in a Devil's Trap, her body shuddering on the floor. Matthew is trying to break her out of it, gripping her shoulders tight and staring into the black pools of her eyes. As her body refuses to cease seizing, I look around the room, eventually opening the bathroom door to find Ruby sitting on the floor. She looks up from her sigil, asking, "Cas came with you, right?"

"Yeah. How long has Lucy's seizure been going on?"

Walking past me to join the others in theory room, she replies, "About twenty minutes. I was trying to get Castiel's angel ass here to see if he could fix her."

Cas, hearing this, responds, "The transition is almost complete - I can slow the hex on her if we go ahead and remove the items, but they can only be destroyed by an Eden angel's sword."

"Go ahead then! Remove the hex!" Sam commands Cas.

"They're very deep. I can feel where they are, but I cannot get them out and heal her at the same time. Someone else will have to cut them out," Cas explains.

I look to Ruby, hoping that she would be able to do it. "Don't look at me," she says, "I'm no surgeon."

"I'll do it," Matthew speaks up. We all stand shocked.

"Don't look at me like that," he continues, "She'll be gone forever if we don't do it now. Give me a knife."

Cas marks Lucy's body with three circles, each circle surrounding a hex piece. I hold down Lucy's arm to keep it steady, while Cas keeps his hands on her temples. When Matthew makes the first cut, Lucy screams so horribly that it almost sounds inhuman. Cas lights up her temples with his hands, and she immediately relaxes, but her pitch black eyes continue to stare.

Eventually, Matthew retrieves all three "jars". They look a lot like small vials about the size of a pill, but they apparently had enough power to help Lucifer keep his hold on Lucy.

"This should buy us more time," Sam says as Cas heals Lucy and puts her to sleep, "but we can't afford to wait. Somehow, we have to get that sword and destroy those hexes."

As Cas places Lucy on a bed, Matthew asks, "How is Cas supposed to get it by himself?"

Just then, Hannah appears. "He won't be by himself," she says, "I will be going with him."

"We have to go to Heaven's armory first. We would not be able to defeat a cherub with only two angel blades," Cas states.

"Sam, Dean, you two need to find a demon that might know something about this," Ruby says, "I'll help you."

"Matthew, stay with Lucy. Keep her safe," I say.

"I will," he nods.

Before we all go our separate ways, I realize something for the first time. I realize that this is the beginning of the end - that things will become a lot simpler after this is all done. With that thought in mind, I leave the room with Sam and Ruby, ready to take on whatever sons of bitches we have to in order to get Lucy back to normal.

Lucy POV

Slowly awakening from a shroud of nothingness, all of my memories from the seizure flood back to my mind. Flashes of bleeding faces and tortured souls invade my thoughts, and I quickly sit up and shake my head to clear it.
