DEAN POV
"So she just left?" I ask Matthew.
"Yeah, and I have no idea where she went. She didn't tell me or anything," he says, bewildered.
"You don't think that it was the demon thing, do you?" Sam asks me.
"I don't know, but what I do know is that Cas is able to find her," I say, "And that Cas isn't here right now."
"Did any demons come around here? Maybe they possessed her and took her to -" Matthew begins.
"No demons that I know of have been here. Not even Ruby," Sam says, shaking his head a little bit.
"Do you think Ruby might know something?" I ask.
"Maybe, but I don't have a way of talking to her. She won't listen to the telepathy and she never answers her phone," Sam answers.
I suggest, "Don't you think that could mean that she's working with the other demons again?"
"She would never do that," Sam says sternly.
"She's a demon, Sam," I say, "They change their whole personalities within two days if they need to."
Sam just shakes his head, and then Cas finally shows up.
"I was just talking to Lucy," Cas says.
"What happened?" Matthew asks expectantly.
"She's becoming a demon. Ruby found a way to fix her, but we need to do it before Lucifer takes her for good," Cas explains.
"Let's go. Now," Matthew says, rushing back to his room, probably to get whatever crap he brought with him.
LUCY POV
"Before the boys get here, I want you to do something for me," I tell Ruby.
"What?" she asks.
"I'm going to draw a Devil's Trap and step in it so that I can't hurt anyone. Make sure not to step in it, and make sure that nobody disrupts the circle," I explain.
Ruby then says, "Okay, but what are you going to draw it with?"
"I have some paint in my car. Could you go get it for me?"
"Sure."
When she brings back the paint, I quickly draw the Devil's Trap on the floor and then put a chair in the middle. The paint will need about half an hour to dry, which should be more than enough time before the boys get here. The drive time from Hollywood to Anaheim is about an hour or so.
"So, what does it feel like?" Ruby asks me.
"Being a demon?"
"Yeah."
"I'm not completely a demon yet. I still have some heart left in me."
"Ah, I remember those days. I don't miss them, but I remember them."
"I'm afraid that I won't be as 'good' of a demon as you. With what Lucifer did to me, I'll be a very, very bad one."
"Don't be so sure of yourself. If you try to hurt Sam you better know that I'll kick your ass to Hell."
"What's the deal with you and Sam anyhow?"
"Nothing important."
"Have you met Matthew?"
"No. Who's that?"
"Well, he's sort of my boyfriend. I don't know what we are officially."
"So is he cute or not?"
"Looks aren't everything, Ruby."
"So he's ugly?"
"No, I didn't mean that. He's cute and actually pretty hot."
"Nice."
"I got him first."
"Considering how I've banged your brother, I don't need him."
"You did what?!"
"You heard me."
"When?"
"It's been a while. About a year and a half maybe. How long have you known them again?"
"Very funny," I scoff.
MATTHEW POV
It's weird driving Cas around. He could have gone with Sam and Dean, but he decided to go with me instead. Why is he even sitting in a car with me? He could be there right now, helping Lucy. He can read my mind...oh god, I hope he doesn't know anything about what Lucy and I did last night.
"Are you okay? Your pulse is rapid," Cas asks.
"Oh, yeah. I'm fine," I answer.
"You're lying," Cas says very coldly.
"I know. Sorry. I'm just very worried about Lucy," I sigh.
Cas then asks, "Are you worried about her because you care about her or are you worried because you don't want her to leave you?"
"What?" I ask nervously.
"Do you love her or do you love what she does to you?" Cas asks.
"I love her for who she is. I don't want her to become a demon, same as you. I made sure that she wanted to do what we did; I didn't force her to or tell her that I needed to," I say defensively.
"I can tell that she loves you. I just wanted to make sure that you care about her as much as she cares about you," Cas explains, "Before you, I was one of her only friends. It is my job to protect her."
"I'll protect her, too. I may not be completely an angel, but I still share blood with your kind," I add, "Speaking of that, will I ever be able to use my powers? How will I get them back? What's suppressing them in the first place?"
"My theory is that your mother got someone to put a charm on you - possibly an angel itself. It will keep your powers hidden until someone unlocks it, or until you are in a dire need to use them. Otherwise, they are to be dormant," Cas explains.
"What qualifies as a 'dire situation'?" I ask.
"One where something more important than your own life is in jeopardy."
