We each stand in front of the mirror, examining our appearances in the costumes.
"Let's go, it's already 8." Lily frowns and walks out my bedroom door. I sigh and follow, as do Luke and Alex.
"We're going." I nod at my mom and she curtly smiles before getting back into conversation with my grandmother. At first, she wasn't accepting the idea of us going out, especially me. My father's funeral is tomorrow afternoon and she thought it'd be rude. I am honestly trying my best to fight the stage of depression I am drifting towards and I think she knows. That's why she ended up being okay with it.
"I'm driving this time." Luke gets in the driver side, causing me to sit in the back with Alex. The drive is very short, I lived like 3 minutes from my old high school.
We get out and hear the loud music radiating from the gym. It all feels so surreal. Who knew I would be back here for the halloween dance my junior year?
"Hey Lily and Alex!" A girl approaches them when we walk in.
"Hi, this is Rosalie and Luke. They both moved to LA last year before you could meet them." Lily smiles.
"Hi. I'm Robin." She smiles back and chats with Alex and Lily as Luke and I walk behind them, examining the changes.
"It's weird that we aren't here anymore." Luke looks at me, sadness evident on his face.
"Everything is weird now." I smile for a second before going back to frowning.
"Let's dance. We're only staying for an hour and going to that party anyways." Luke shrugs and drags me onto the floor with the other kids.
"I don't know." I shake my head and look for anyone that would want to fight me.
"Screw them. Just live while you can." He pulls me towards him.
"Fine." I smile and start dancing with him to 'Hotline Bling by Drake'. We laugh for awhile and take breaks to get drinks. We eventually meet back up with Alex and Lily, them dancing with two other guys. It's amazing how much popular they have gotten without me here. Now I feel bad for holding them back from their potential. The time at the dance blurred by. They say time flies when you're having fun, but I definitely was not. I saw many people that are still holding grudges with call me out and gossip about how much of a whore I was. It's making me upset and I think I'm ready to leave for the party now.
"Can we go?" I tug on Luke's arm and raise my eyebrows hopefully.
"Yeah." He nods knowingly and gets Alex and Lily.
"Hey, I hear Rosalie Price is here all the way from LA and her fancy tour." The band stops and smirks at me from the stage.
I stop in my tracks as a path forms to reveal me.
"We were wondering if you could sing a song?" He hops down and walks towards me.
"I really should get going." I protest, inching away.
"Come on, it's just a song." Someone I have never met, nudges me. I glare at them and take the microphone, regret flooding through me. I knew that this, deep down, was a bad idea.
"I'll sing a quick song." I clear my throat when I get on the stage and sigh.
((Enemy Fire by Bea Miller))
Oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh
Enemy fireWho's a friend, who's an enemy
'Cause sometimes they look the same to meBut looks can be pleasing, yet so deceiving
Sweet words from from a serpent's tongue
It's like playing with a loaded gun
Who knows what truth is
How do you prove it
I swear I see you watching me, well
