"Oh hello Amelie!" Petal, Sandra's mum said, weird name to call a kid, it's a pretty name but not one that I would call my children if I ever had any.
"Hello" I said following Sandra inside, the house was one story, it was painted white with a pastel green Pickett fence and front door, when you walk in there is a large space, to the right side is a living room, and to the left a kitchen, piled high with dirty dishes, two men were standing in the centre of the two rooms equipped with cameras and lights and white screens, when petal answered the door she was wearing a fifties styled apron, maid hat, pink gloves and was holding a vacuum cleaner, she was in the middle of a photo shoot, petal worked as a model, no not a supermodel but a advertising model. She was in her late thirties or early forties, she was quite gentle like her name suggests And rarely got angry.
Walking further along you go down a thick hallway with three rooms on the right, her mums room, her two brothers room and her room, the hallway ended at a small laundry room with a screen door, two little windows, and two washing machines.
They had a huge backyard, grass everywhere, except for a path leading to the small green shed which her dad worked in whenever he was home, the lawn had a soccer net, one of those spinning clothes drying/hanging things and multiple nerd bullets scattered everywhere.
I had been to Sandra's many times since we became friends, I was on good terms with her brothers, and her mum but I had only seen her dad a few times, she told me he's constantly working or on business trips.
"So what did you wanna tell me?" I asked plonking down on Sandra's bed, Sandra slowly came and sat down next to me
"I- I think I'm gay" she whispered, I straightened my back subconsciously as I focused more on her
"Really? You sure?" I said
"Yeah" she was sniffling and trying to wipe her nose with the back of her hand
"Hey, hey don't be upset. There's nothing wrong with being.. Uh lesbian? Is that what you say or do you say gay?" I didn't think I was helping
"Well I'm pretty sure the correct term is lesbian but it feels more comfortable saying gay"
"Okay, so your gay, so what? its not like someone's coming to murder you, or it's the end of the world" Sandra sniffles a bit but she looked better "besides your my best friend, like it would matter to me?" Sandra nodded
"Well, I don't know for sure if I am or not" she said
"Well you could be bi you know?" I said thinking about mark, and how they had an obvious attraction
"Yeah, well... Mum... Shes not exactly supportive of gays. She took me to a wedding of her friend a couple days ago and there was this flower girl there... And she... Uh.. I don't know! She's a year younger then me and she's lives about half an hour away.. But she was so beautiful"
"Well that doesn't mean your gay Sandra, you might have just thought she was pretty and wanted to be good friends with her and you mistook that as love?"
"No, no let me finish" I nodded my head as she continued "after the ceremony me and Bel Fiore, that was her name, she wanted me to call her that, everyone else just calls her Bella, Bel Fiore means 'beautiful flower' in Italian and Bella is just beautiful" wow what was with Sandra knowing all these flower people? "she said I was special and that I was the only one who got to call her that. She had auburn hair and the most beautiful green eyes, well after the ceremony we were sitting on this beautiful bench, a Bella bench, underneath a wedding arch of white flowers, she just looked so pretty and we were so understanding of each other and I... I... She was just so nice, I couldn't stop myself.. I..." I knew where this was going
