Hope you're enjoying it so far. Pushing it along again, sorry. Time for Lucca to make his appearance.
I woke up to find Melissa wasn't in the room. I checked the bedside clock. 2:47. Where was she?
I quickly got up and quietly walked out the room. I could hear noise coming from downstairs. What was she doing? She was so close to her due date, she was supposed to be taking it easy, not making food at almost three in the morning.
I walked downstairs and found her pacing in the kitchen.
"Melissa?" I asked.
She panted heavily. "Tristan... I think he's coming"
"Shit" I muttered, jogging upstairs, and banging, quite loudly, on Joan's and Luke's bedroom door.
"I'm up!" Joan yelled, opening the door almost instantly.
"He's on his way"
She nodded an sent me downstairs with her car keys. I quickly helped Melissa into the car and two seconds later Joan and Luke jumped in.
We was going as fast as possible. Melissa was screaming in pain. He wasn't going to wait until we got to the hospital.
I hated seeing her in pain.
"He's coming, mum!" She yelled.
"Hang on!" Joan yelled back, as we pulled into the hospital car park.
"Just five more minutes, Lucca" Luke said, leaning over the seat and grabbing her hand.
I held her other hand. "Deep, easy breaths, baby" I was so scared but tried to act calm.
Two midwifes ran out to the car park and that's where Lucca was brought into the world.
They took him and Melissa to a room right away. He was weighed and checked over. Melissa looked shocked and pale.
"Are you alright, Melissa?" I asked.
She nodded with a small smile on her face.
Lucca was placed on her chest and she cried. "Look at him"
I leaned forward and looked at her gorgeous, little face. I was speechless, all I could do was sit and stare at him.
"Lucca" I eventually whispered. "He's beautiful"
Tears came to my eyes.
Melissa gently wiped them away as they fell. I leaned down and kissed her. This beautiful family of mine. I would protect them until the day I die.
He fed then fell asleep in my arms. Melissa had fallen asleep straight after she'd fed him. I rocked him gently.
"You're a natural" Joan smiled.
"Thanks" I smiled.
"Let us have a cuddle while he's sleeping" Luke said, taking the sleeping baby from me.
I got up. "I'm going to go outside for a bit" I wanted to call my dad.
"Ok" they nodded.
I walked out of the ward and out in front of the maternity block. I took my phone from my pocket and dialed his number.
He answered after the fourth ring. "Son"
"Dad... Are you drunk?"
"No. Is it good news then?"
"Yes, a little boy, Lucca"
"Can I see him?"
I hesitated. "Tomorrow. Meet me outside the maternity block, don't turn up drunk"
"Yes, ok"
"Bye, dad"
"Later" he hung up.
I looked up to the sky. "Lucca. 5lb 6oz. 4:57"
