Melissa was gradually getting better and soon she was back in college, carrying on with her course.

However, she started to seem a little distant and quiet. She had been this way before, usually when stress was getting to her. She had told me before that she could deal with it alone, and I trusted her. She was good with this stuff and I hated to pry at her.

She carried on this way and started to push me away. Joan, her mum, and Luke, her step dad, noticed the change as well. I didn't know what to do. None of us did.

It soon got too much for me, I couldn't deal with seeing her like this. It was hurting me too much.

She was holed up in her room, so I knocked gently on the door, before entering.

She was sat by her window, staring out, her eyes glassy.

"Melissa.." I whispered, walking over to her.

She didn't move. "Yes?" Her voice sounded so pained.

My heart broke for her. Why was she like this? What was wrong with her? "Sweetheart, darling, baby? Please tell me what's wrong?" I sat by her side.

She slowly looked at me. Tears threatening to fall.

"Hey" I whispered, putting my arm around her. "Don't cry"

She buried her head into my chest. "I'm sorry, Tristan" she sniffed.

"What are you apologising for?"

She shook her head, unable to speak.

"What is it? Please tell me?"

"I'm... I'm pregnant"

"What?!" I'd heard her say it but I couldn't believe it. What? How? Why? I didn't know.

"I'm pregnant, Tristan" she whispered, sitting up.
