"Just got a call from the Sherrif's station," David Nolan told his daughter as he caught up with her. "Leroy's phoned in a stolen boat - said he saw some girl making off with it."

"It's a small town," his daughter replied. "Doesn't he recognise her?" David shook his head.

"Reckons he's never seen her before."

"Alright, so do we know anything about this girl? Age, appearance - anything?"

"Black hair, white cloth dress -"

"Like a nurses uniform, right?"

"I guess so," David said, frowning. "Why?"

"The hospital recorded a missing person this afternoon," Emma explained to her father. "A young girl, though nobody seems to know who she is or where she came from. Apparently she attacked her nurse and left in her uniform."

"Then we need to find her as soon as possible." Emma nodded her agreement as they reached the pier.

They stood by the edge of the water for a moment before David saw it.

"Over there," he said, pointing to a motorboat out in the water and, thinking fast, lept into a second boat tied in to the pier.

Emma got it started and directed it towards the other motorboat while David clung onto the bars at the side.

"Have you ever driven one of these before?" he called over the sound of the motor.

"Nope," Emma called back. "But how different can it be from driving a car?" As she spoke, she pulled the boat into a sharp turn, nearly sending David overboard. "Oh shit."

They hadn't been able to see the boat from the shore, but as they approached it, they could see that it had capsised and was sinking. David took off his jacket and threw it aside.

"What the hell are you doing?" Emma called as David swung a leg over the railings. "That motor's still going - you could get killed!"

"A young girl's life is in danger, Emma," David replied. "She's someone's daughter. I won't deprive another parent from their child if there is a chance I can save them." He launched himself off of the boat and Emma watched him swim against the current to reach the capsised motorboat before he disappeared within it.

Two fearful minutes later, Emma breathed a sigh of relief as she saw her father resurface, gasping for air but alive, outside of the boat. He was struggling to keep the girl's unconcious body afloat, so Emma tossed the life ring out to them before pulling them in and helping them back into the boat.

"David, I need you to drive the boat back," Emma called as she took off her jacket and wrapped it around the girl's soaking body. From there, she proceeded to turn the girl's head to the side and watched the water dribble down her chin. Fearing the worst, Emma placed the back of her hand below the girl's nostrils before turning her head, pinching her nose and starting mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. After four breaths, she knelt back up and checked for signs of breathing again. The pulse in the girl's wrist was getting stronger, yet it took three more attempts for the rest of the water to be choaked back up.

The girl was still unconscious when they returned to the shore and loaded her into the waiting ambulance. Doctor Whale stepped forward to talk to them before it left.

"One minute longer and that girl's brain would have started to shut down," Whale explained. "And although resucitation is unfortunately only the first hurdle, it's due to the quick thinking on both of your parts that she is breathing."

"You phoned in a missing person earlier," Emma said, stopping him before he could walk away. "Is that her?"

"I believe so," he said, glancing into the back of the ambulance where the paramedics were checking her vitals. "The girl's a bit of a mystery. Nobody's seen her before this morning. She's just another Jane Doe." He gave Emma and David a small smile before turning and getting into the back of the ambulance.

"That was remarkable, Emma," David told Emma as he handed back the blanket he'd been given by the medics.

"Well isn't that my job," Emma shrugged, "you know, as the 'saviour'?" She walked on ahead and David gave a small, proud smile to her back.
