Chapter 7- Its... complicated

Some bitch just showed me a picture of Hadley kissing Toby, there has to be an explains toon for this... Right?

I spot Toby in the hallway and I tap him on the shoulder. "Toby can I ask you a question and I want you to answer honestly" I say and he nods so I take out my phone and show him the picture and his eyes bulge out like he's nervous or something

"Just tell me the truth" I say and he looks nervous. "Psh it's obviously photoshopped"

"Well then you wouldn't mind if I asked Hadley and people the were at Nicks party-"

"No!"

"You kissed her didn't you" I say and he ducks his head down in shame

"It was one time I sware. I'm so sorry, she means nothing to me-"

"If she meant nothing to you then you wouldn't have done it. I thought you were different Toby, but clearly I was wrong" I say and I walk away not caring about the stares I am getting. I walk into Drama class and put my head down. I think Adam notices that something is wrong so he starts talking to me.

"Hey, you okay?" He says and I nod

"Sure, I'm fine" I say and he shakes his head in disbelief

"Come on Ave, talk to me. What's going on?"

"Can we not talk about it!" I snap and he nods. "Look I'm sorry it's just I am going through something right now" I say and he puts his hand on my arm

"Is it about Toby?" He asks and I nod. "Do you wanna talk about it?"

"It's... Well... Complicated" I say and he nods. "Trouble in paradise?" He asks and I nod

"I wish Tori were here because she would beat the crap out of him but noooooo she's sick which means that she's not going to the sweetheart dance either. Great just great" I say and he nods

"Hey, you have me. I will not leave your side for the whole night" he says and I smile

"Thanks Adam, your the best friend ever" I say as I put my head on his shoulder.

I am walking in the hallway with Adam to my locker and people keep whispering.
"Are they together now?"

"What about Toby?"

"I heard that her and Toby broke up"

I just roll my eyes and get my bag. "Do you want me to walk you home?" Adam asks and I nod

As we are walking home, he keeps telling jokes that make me laugh to a point where I can't breathe which just makes me look demented.

"Alright well, here we are. I should probably start getting ready for the dance but what's the point. I don't have a sweetheart" I say depressed and he smirks

"I'll be your valentine" he says and I hug him. "Thanks for being here" I say and he returns my hug

"I'll always be here for you. Anytime, any place, anywhere" he says and I smile. I walk inside and he walks to wherever he's going off to.

It took me two hours to get ready because I usually will not wear dresses or do my hair and make up so I don't know how to curl my hair. It took a while but I figured it out. I did a half up half down hairstyle and curled the ends of my hair. I am wearing a pinkish-red dress with matching heels. I have a plan, I am going to make Toby feel like I felt only I am not going to kiss Adam because that would be wrong.

Adam said he would meet me at my house so I am waiting for him. The reason that I am not mentioning  Nick is because he is backing up Toby. The doorbell rings and I already know it's Adam because he texted me that he's outside. I make my way downstairs and I smile when I see how handsome he looks.

"Wow, you look absolutely beautiful" he says and I blush

"Thanks, you don't look so bad yourself" I say and he smiles. "Pictures, I must get pictures! Where's Toby, Tori and Nick?" Mom asks and I roll my eyes

"I'm mad at Toby and Nick and Tori is sick so Adam offered to take me to the dance" I say and she smiles

"Well thank you Adam, I'm glad that you can cheer my daughter up" she says and he nods.

"We are going to ride in style" he says and my smile turns into a frown when I see the death trap he has for us.

"Hell no" I say and he smiles

"We are already late, do you want to get there fast or not?" He says and I nod

"Then sit your pretty ass down and hold on" he says and I chuckle. I sit on the back of the bike and hold onto his waist tight. I can't help but notice that he has a six pack. Dem abs tho, focus Avery

"I'm only doing this for you dude, I would never get on this death trap with anyone else" I say and he laughs

After about ten minutes of me holding on for dear life, we finally arrive at the school. We take off our helmets and go inside. I ignore all of the states we are getting from people because I spot Toby with Hadley.

"Hey, you wanna dance?" I ask Adam and he nods. The song Wip Nae Nae comes on and me and Adam fail at dancing. Then my favorite song Mrs All American by Five Seconds Of Summer comes on and I start singing and dancing and he laughs

"What's so funny?" I say and he shakes his head. "Nothing, I've never seen you act all girly before. I've seen Tori like this but I've never seen you fangirl before. It's humorous" he says while laughing and I slap his arm

"So not funny"

"Alright ladies and gentlemen it's time to announce this years mr and mrs sweetheart" Mrs Grayson announces

"Your mr sweetheart it... Toby Halloway! And your mrs sweetheart is... Avery Hunter!" She says and I go up to revive my sash and crown. I don't even glance at Toby.

I whisper in mrs Grayson's ear that me and Toby are no longer a couple and if we could skip the dance and she nods. "Enjoy the dance everybody" she says and we go off into different corners.

Toby's POV
I wanted to dance with her so badly so I could explain. Yes I made the mistake in kissing Hadley but I was drunk. It's all Nicks fault: flash back

"Come on man, let's have a contest" Nick says clearly drunk

"I don't know man, it's getting late and we already drank a lot-"

"Oh come on. Stop being such a Debby downer. Avery doesn't own you, let loose and have fun that's what the Toby that I know would do" Nick says and I nod. He's right, Avery doesn't own me

We have a contest and Nick wins but soon after has to go throw up. I am pulled upstairs by Dani (Hadley's bff) and they are playing truth or dare. Apparently it's my turn. "Truth or dare?"

"I am the king of dares" I say and Dani smirks. "I dare you to make out with Hadley" she says and I now am regretting picking dare. I can't turn down a dare but what about Avery? This would crush her if she would ever find out.

"I can't-" I am cut off by Hadley grabbing me by my shirt and kissing me. I don't realize that someone is taking a picture of us: end of flashback

Avery's POV
We danced, laughed, sang and embarrassed ourselves but overall I had fun. I completely forgot about all my problems with Toby because I was having so much fun.
