Kevin's POV

After grabbing a water bottle from the fridge, my attention turned to the TV which was currently displaying the news.  It was a report about..Steven.

My eyes widened at the picture that they displayed.  It was Steven, but he looked filthy, as if he has never had a bath in his life.  His eyes were dark and his face was covered in dry tears.  He looked confused, but that was probably from the flash of the camera.  He was also bound in heavy-looking chains.

The news reporter was saying something about a 200,000 dollar reward for anyone who turns him in.  I glared at the screen.  No way was I going to turn him in.  He doesn't deserve to go back to that hellhole of a laboratory.

The reporter was in the midst of saying something else, but I quickly turned the TV off and jogged back upstairs.  I handed the water bottle to him with a smile.  He easily chugged it in record time.  He let out a big content sigh as he swallowed the last sip.

I chuckled and said,"  You're so weird Steven."  I saw his face flush and he punched me on the arm.  I almost shivered at the ever-present sparks that occurred when he touched me.

"So what do you want to do now?"  I ask, stretching to try to get rid of the tingly feeling in my shoulders.  I saw Steven shrug, and then I remembered his cuts and scrapes.

"Oh!  Hey, come with me.  We've got to get you fixed,"  I said, grabbing his wrist.  I felt Steven freeze.

"Fi-fixed!?"  He said, his eyes wide with fear, but his face red.  Then I remembered he was part dog.

"Oh shit!  No Steven, not that kind of fixed.  I meant your cuts."  I said, feeling my face burn as well.

Steven still didn't look to sure, but he seemed willing to trust me.  We walked into the nearest bathroom which was down the hall.  I told Steven to sit on the edge of the bathtub, and he obeyed.  I grabbed some first aid stuff from the cupboard underneath the sink.

I turn toward Steven and said,"Take of you're shirt."

I saw his face burn an even brighter red, but he took off the white suit jacket and torn grey t-shirt.  He was covered in deep cuts and angry bruises of all colors.

"Holy shit Steven, did you fight a bear or something!?"  I said, gently applying some of the disinfectant on his pale stomach.

I felt him wince in pain.  I instantly lifted my hand off of him.

"Well, the people at the lab had me fight animals sometimes.  I-I'm not sure why though."  Steven said slowly.  I could tell that that wasn't the whole truth, but I didn't question him further.  I simply nodded and asked,

"What kind of animals Steven?"

"W-Wolves, and large cats,"  He said, his brown eyes cloudy, as if he was reliving it.

I wrapped a bandage firmly around his stomach, snapping him out of his daze.  I felt really bad, although I don't know why.  I guess it's because I can't imagine what he must have been through.

I felt tears come to my eyes, but I didn't let them fall.  If Steven saw me crying, he'd probably blame himself for it and do something he'll regret, just to make me happy.

I realized Steven had been trying to get my attention for awhile now.

"Huh?"  I asked, blinking away the tears.

"You okay Kev?"  He asked, a worried expression on his childish features.  I smiled gently.  I stood up and handed Steven his shirt back.

"Kevin?"

"Hmm?"

"Thank you."

"Your welcome Steven."  I said, exiting the bathroom.
