James's POV

I woke up at 6:00 as usual on Monday.  I got out of bed and took a quick shower before getting dressed in a navy blue t-shirt and some denim jeans.  I brushed my teeth and checked the clock; 6:30.  I rinsed my mouth and grabbed my backpack before exiting my house.

As I was walking I kept hearing the rusting of bushes and footsteps.  I looked around the yards nearby and saw one holly bush quivering.  I walked near it and heard a gasp come from the bush.  I squinted and could see a bright pair of blue eyes and blonde hair.

"Who are you?"  I asked, raising an eyebrow in question.

"No one important."  He said quietly.

"Okay?  Is there a reason why you're in that bush?"

"Um, I'm hiding.  What else?"  He said, rolling his eyes.  I glared at him and let out a chuckle.

"What are you hiding from?"  I asked, trying not to get angry.  I have been known to throw quite a tantrum over little things.

"Scary men in white coats."  The blonde boy said, his eyes darting around nervously.

"Why don't you hide in your house then, or at school?"  I asked, confused.  He looked at me and tipped his head to the side.

"What's school?"  I widened my eyes with surprise.  What kind of idiot didn't know what school was?

"Um, it's a place where you go to learn.  Speaking of that, I'm going to be late if I don't start moving", I said checking my watch.   The blonde boy peek his head out from behind the bush to examine my watch.  My mouth went agape when I saw two orange cat ears coming out of his head.

I scooted back on the grass, accidentally slipping on a pebble.  I fell with a thud, my eyes never leaving the blonde boy's head.  He cocked his head to the side, confused.

"What?"  He asked.

"E-ears.  What is up with your ears?"  Realization hit the boy's face like lightning.  He blushed and hid behind the bush again.  I gently grabbed his wrist and pulled him out of hiding.  He was wearing a plain grey shirt that looked like it had never been washed, along with some torn, bloodied, jeans.

"You're hurt,"  was all I managed to say.  The blonde boy looked ragged ,as if he had gotten hit by a car.

He nodded, and looked away.

I feel like I should help him, I thought.  I leaned down and picked him up bridal-style.  His face went a darker red and his eyes widened.

"What are you doing?"  He asked, sounding slightly frightened.  I smiled softly at him and walked him back to my house.  While carrying him, I also noticed he had a fluffy orange tail to match his ears.  We finally made it to my house and I carried him inside, gently setting him on the couch.

"I'll be back this afternoon okay?  Try to get some sleep."  I said, surprising at how gentle my voice was."  The blonde boy nodded.

"Oh!  One more thing before I go.  What's your name?"  I asked.

"Seamus."  He said quietly.

"Nice to meet you Seamus, I'm James."  I said before giving him a salute and dashing out of house.  By the time I got to the bus stop, the last few people were climbing aboard.  I quickly climbed inside and went to my usual seat in the back next to Jordan.

"Hey guys what's up?"  Eddie asked with his usual smile.

"Almost had to pull a full-nighter for this stupid english report."  Dan said rather unhappily.

"I ran into a uh, cat along the way.  I brought it back to my house."  I said, a smile appearing when I thought of Seamus.  I glanced and saw Eddie and the new kid Kevin exchange a knowing look.

"Do you think.."  Kevin trailed off quietly as if he didn't want anyone but Eddie to hear.  Eddie nodded.

Something's up.  They know something they're not telling me.

Well do you.

Dammit!  Should I tell them?  Will they even believe me?  Of course not!  If I walked up to them and say the cat I found is really a person with cat ears and a cat tail , they would think I was on drugs or some shit like that.

The rest of the bus ride I was caught up in my thoughts.  I hardly noticed Eddie tapping my shoulder to get my attention.

"Hmm?"  I said with a start.

"Come on dude, we're at school."  Eddie said with his usual giggle.

"Oh.  Heh.  Sorry, just thinking."  I said.
