CHAPTER 8

I went back to bed but didn’t sleep. Before I knew it, the morning light was seeping through my room. I was far too tired to do my hair so I simply wet and combed it, chucked my school uniform on and got my books. Anton looked extremely angry this morning. I apologised for keeping him up, but he said it wasn’t me who was making him angry. I wonder what was. I was worried for Anton but he kept brushing me off. He drove me to school but we didn’t talk. I thought about my sexy girlfriend instead. I couldn’t wait to see her in two weeks.

At lunchtime, I was walking through one of the schools hallways when I saw James. He was hard-out staring at me. In fact he looked lustful. I felt a cold shiver and my head was saying, “Leave, Julia!” I quickly walked away from James. Some kid gave me a shove, stuck his tongue out and called me a dyke. I kept walking. At the end of the hallway was Angela Reyburn. I tried to ignore her but one of those big girls that hang out with her pushed me against the wall, hard. The breath was pushed out from my lungs. The girl was giving me the massive filthies. She raised her hand and slapped me clean across the face. It hurt so much, I could feel my face burning, blood in my mouth and tears in my eyes.

“Fag!” she spat. I simply looked at her.

“Hey!” an unfamiliar voice called. The girl let go of me and spun around to see the speaker. He was quite handsome for a boy. He had neatly cut blonde hair and his school jersey fitted him well. The girl lost interest and walked away. My hero-boy came up to me.

“Hey, I’m Tony,” he said with a smile and holding his hand out. My first though was; you will not have sex with me. But I shook that out.

“I’m Julia, thanks for your help.”

“All good, Julia,” He said, still smiling, “You on Talkspace?”

“Yep,” I said, this guy could make a good friend.

“Sweet as! Could you add me? My name’s Tonylovesrainbows,” Tony said.

“Sure,” I replied. The bell rang and we and we had to separate. I covered my face because a bruise was forming. Just one more hour to go.

When I got home, I logged in to Talkspace. Leah wasn’t online so I added Tony: Tonylovesrainbows. He was online.

Tonylovesrainbows: Julia?

The Volktina: Yep J

Tonylovesrainbows: hey J

The Volktina: hi! Thanks again for helping me out there J

Tonylovesrainbows: No problem J I saw she called you a fag?

The Volktina: Yeah, you haven’t heard?

Tonylovesrainbows: I’m new, started yesterday. But some guy , James, I think; told me.

The Volktina: Oh so you’ve spoken to him?

Tonylovesrainbows: hey! Doesn’t mean I like the guy! What I didn’t say is that I’m gay to.

Tonylovesrainbows: Yep :/ I was bullied severely at my old school so my parents pulled me out.

The Volktina: Which school?

Tonylovesrainbows: James Cook.

The Volktina: No wonder why. Rough crowd :/

Tonylovesrainbows: yep :/ you a tatu fan?

The Volktina: Sure am! Gosh how’d you tell xD

Tonylovesrainbows: xD your screename is a mix of Volkova and Katina the singers last names. Very clever Julia.

The Volktina: haha! Yes I love those girls.

Tonylovesrainbows: Yulia or Lena?

The Volktina: Yulia! Of course! OMG

Tonylovesrainbows: yeah you look a bit like her. I’m not sure if that bruise is very Yulia-like though. xD

The Volktina: nah but I’m sure she had a few fights in her day.

Tonylovesrainbows: Yep! Hey I g2g now but it was great talking to you J

The Volktina: Cya l8er!

-Tonylovesrainbows logged out.

I slumped back in my chair. Tony’s gay to. That makes Leah, Tony and I. We can stick together. I smiled, Tony and I will be great friends. Anton came into my room.

“Hey Julia, you talked to Leah lately?” he asked.

“No, why?”

Anton looked distressed. “Bro? You OK?” I was scared, I walked over to him and put my hand on his shoulder. He shrugged,

“I’ll tell you, not now, I promise I’ll tell you though.”

“Has Leah done something wrong?”

“No of course not,” Anton said, “hey I have to go, I won’t be back until tomorrow,” he hugged me.

“Love you,” I said.

“I love you to,” he replied. He left my room. I was feeling really worried about my big bro. I haven’t seen him so agitated. I put my stereo on and decided not to worry about him, It’s not what he wants me to do.
