Note: And here is the final chapter of Blocks. I hope all my readers enjoyed the story as much as I enjoyed writing it! :)
EPILOGUE
Ten months later:
Today had been a long and tiring day; as per usual. Being a checkout operator at the supermarket isn't the easiest job in the world. Scanning item after item and doing quickly had become a skill of mine. I also had my licence now! So driving had become another skill of mine. No driving to rescue my girlfriend from rapists anymore though. When I got home; Dad was ironing some sheets. He told me that Mum had been around and dropped some toys for Anna's baby. Since Tony's death; Craig Lock has been a bit nicer to Dad. Mum actually comes around at times for a coffee or whatever; I had forgiven her way sooner than I thought I would. I think Tony's death softened Craig a bit though; well he did cry at the funeral – that was pretty sad. James could never murder anyone else though – I had made sure of that. I had to take the toys down the street to the Cave's house. Anton was probably already there, plus I could see Leah.
Leah answered the door. She hugged me;
“Hey Julz! Are those presents for Amy?” she gestured at the box I had been holding.
“Yes, from my Mum,” I said with a smile. We went into the living room where Anna and Anton were playing with Anna's daughter, Amy. Amy is such a cute little thing. I think she looks like Anna; not at all like her father. Anna smiled when we came in and she handed the baby over to Anton. Amy started chirping and playing with Anton's shirt.
“More toys Julia?” Anna asked as she looked into the box, “ what will you have to play with?”
I laughed, “I'm far too busy to play.”
Anton handed me the baby, “just hold the baby,” he said with a smile. Amy was cute but I didn't want to hold her just in case I dropped her. Amy started chirping at me; her own special way to communicate. She even stuck her tongue out at me. I tickled her chin with my finger and she wrapped her whole fist around it.
“I think she loves you Julz,” Leah said, putting her head on my shoulder and looking into Amy's face, “we should have a baby one day.”
“Woah! We are only eighteen! We can do that at fifty!” I said.
Leah smiled, revealing her beautiful white teeth, “deal!” Anna took Amy from me, she looked into her daughters face adoringly. She really loved that baby; she didn't care how she was made. In Anna's opinion – Amy was HER baby and only hers. I really admired that attitude. James doesn't deserve a baby anyway. Luckily he can't make any anymore – I made sure of that. In the end; James got what he deserved- a nice prison cell. I hope his cellmates a nice guy. Really, I do.
